Blend Swap is a long-established online community platform for sharing Blender 3D models and assets. With over 16 years in operation, it has evolved into one of the largest repositories of free Blender assets globally, attracting hundreds of thousands of users and facilitating millions of downloads. The asset archive includes more than 25,000 Blender models, and the user database lists hundreds of thousands of registered users alongside nearly 20 million recorded downloads. Recently, the platform underwent modernization, incorporating a contemporary FastAPI backend and containerized deployment, which preserves the original archive and offers potential for future development and monetization. The updated system features a FastAPI backend with a REST API, a comprehensive MariaDB database, Docker-based deployment, and a restored preview system for most assets. Users enjoy access to creator profile pages, a browsing system spanning 24 asset categories, JWT-based authentication, and an admin dashboard with reporting tools. Presently, the platform is privately accessible via Cloudflare Access as further development ensues, but its full archive and browsing capabilities remain live.
