Some cliffnotes:
 -- Dropship/ecommerce site with NO revenue (see below; can be switched on by new owner fairly easily)

 -- Organic rankings position site to gain market share from limited supply of competitors
 -- $1 Reserve, 30 day auction

//

Background

The domain ExerciseBalls.com was acquired in 2015 from SnapNames after being dropped by a major domain investor who bought the domain at a domain conference auction for $17,500 in 2008 (NameBio / DomainNameWire.com)

The website was implemented shortly after it was acquired in the summer of 2015. I have invested a significant amount of time building this business.

This is a 2-year old well-established website that is highly ranked in most search engines and is on the first page for Exercise Balls in most search engines.

The website has not been accepting payments aside from the first month because I have been overwhelmed with other commitments and a 1-1/2 year old baby. I started this website a few months before my baby was born so I didn't have the time to focus on building the business.

With a category killer domain, ExerciseBalls.com is positioned to be the leader in this particular market. The site did receive one sale the first month before we even got the DigiCert EV SSL. It was about $90 for 2 exercise balls.

Are you the original owner of
the business?
Yes.

Which platform does the website use?
Spark Pay

Where is the site hosted and will this need to change after purchase?
The site is currently hosted at Spark Pay which is owned by Capital One. I prefer this software over Shopify for lots of reasons, but the new owner can certainly host the site with a different company.

Why are you selling the business?
I have been overwhelmed with other companies and a 1-1/2 year old baby; I haven't had the time to focus on building this business.

How is your business monetized?
Drop-shipping capability; otherwise, no further monetization. But there is serious potential.

What are the main expenses of the business? Please list any recurring expenses that account for more than 1% of overall revenue.

  • $25/month Spark Pay ecommerce software which is owned by Capital One
  • $5/month - Google Apps for Business, which powers the company's email account (support@exerciseballs.com), Google+, stored files (such as pricing) nicely organized in Google Drive, and Google Domains all under one account
  • DigiCert SSL Extended Validation Certificate (Most Secure) seen in footer -- and address bar is green. It was about $400 for 2 years. Of course, you can choose whatever SSL certificate you want
  • Toll Free Number: (800) 887-6887 @ $15/month for this premium toll free 800 number with (4) eights and (2) sevens in repeating order
  • Only other expenses are order based expenses such as paying for the product, shipping cost, and merchant fees.

Please list all domain names you are including in the sale:

  • ExerciseBalls.com
  • ExerciseBalls.co.uk
  • ExerciseBalls.co
  • ExerciseBalls.us
  • ExerciseBalls.info
  • ExerciseBalls.biz
  • ExerciseBall.co
  • XerciseBalls.com
  • BallFitness.com

Which social media accounts will you be including?

  • Twitter (Twitter.com/exerciseballs)
  • YouTube (Youtube.com/exerciseballs)
  • Pinterest (Pinterest.com/exerciseballs)
  • Google+ (Google.com/+exerciseballs)

Are there any email lists included in the sale?
No

Is there any intellectual property included in the sale (patents, trademarks, etc.)?
No

Are you including other assets in the sale that you think we should know about?
No

Are you selling the assets of the business (asset sale) or the company (stock sale)?
I am selling all of the assets of my business (asset sale).

What are the primary traffic sources of the site?
Direct & Organic

Why?
The category killer exact match domain attracts direct traffic and since the site is well established and ranks well in most search engines, it gets a good amount of organic traffic as well.

Do you use, or have you experimented with, social media marketing?
No, I have not.

Have you done any Search Engine Optimization?
Yes, I have done minimal SEO.

Please provide a brief overview of the SEO you have performed on this site.
I have built a foundation on which the new owner can really focus on growing the business. Most all the url's are custom for SEO purposes. The site has 5 main categories and 7 sub categories which most of them I have done some SEO work on along with the blog.

Do you or have you ever purchased traffic?
No, I have never purchased traffic.

Has the site ever received any search engine penalties (manual or algorithmic)?
No, to my knowledge my site has never received any search engine penalties.

Do you use, or have you experimented with direct / display advertising?
No, I have not.

Have you experimented with any other sales / marketing initiatives?
No

Do you have employees or contracts with freelancers?
No

How is the content of your website produced? Provide a step-by-step breakdown.
I have been responsible for writing all of the content on the website.

Does the owner need specific skillsets in order to successfully operate the site?
I think most anyone can run this website, but most important is your focus and dedication towards growing the business. I started ecommerce without any experience and learned what I needed to along the way.

Do you and/or any employees or freelancers provide customer support?
No

Please identify and briefly describe your main competitors.

  • TheraGear.com (notice that Exercise Balls is the very first category listed on their site and most of their other products are related to exercise balls or accessories)
  • BallsNBands.com (popular website and one of the only sites focused on Exercise)
  • Spri.com (very popular company that brands their own products which can easily be done)

What makes your website better than its competition?
The category-killer exact match domain. Period.

Does the business store physical inventory?
No

How are shipments into and out of the warehouse / storage units managed?
All orders are drop shipped. When an order is placed on the website, the drop shipper receives the order by email immediately and fulfills the order.

Are you willing to sign a 3-year non-compete contract in the industry that the website operates in?
Yes

Will you provide 1-3 months of post-sale support & training, in order to ensure that the buyer is able to fully take over the business and its operations?
Yes

What are the primary growth opportunities for the business going forward?
Exercise Balls have massive search volume -- just a Google search for the keyword phrase will show you how valuable it is. Not only is there a perfect opportunity to rank on page 1, but since it is niche focused, it will be a lot cheaper for adwords because of the much higher keyword scores.

Along with all the other categories that are exercise balls such as Chinese Exercise Balls or Exercise Ball Chairs which are a huge market alone. We have these really cool exercise ball chairs for kids that I wanted to add which are fun and useful.

If you love the exercise/fitness industry, then you'll love this niche because exercise balls are one of the top fitness products. Almost anywhere people exercise, you'll find exercise balls including gyms, schools, fitness centers, physical therapy places, and even yoga studios have exercise ball yoga. They have immense benefits for all kinds of people. Lots of schools, offices, and workplaces use exercise ball chairs which help strengthen core muscles and improve posture while sitting. It's amazing how sitting on a ball helps kids focus and do better in school and the same goes for workplaces.

This is a great niche and one of the best things about it is that exercise balls are cheap to ship as they ship deflated in a small box much like a shoebox. This is huge because it's easy to offer free shipping! People are often amazed at the power of exercise balls to make a lasting difference in their lives. I personally use this exercise ball chair everyday, EvolutionChair.com, which was invented by a Dentist in Canada out of necessity because he didn't like anything that was out there. Exercise balls offer the most freedom of movement that no other chair offers.

I have established accounts with a few manufacturers that drop ship with lots more products to be added to the website such as the Gyro Hand Exercise Balls. Chinese Exercise Balls are also a very popular category that I was planning to add as well. Exercise Balls are also very easy to Private Label and brand with the ExerciseBalls.com brand.

The current selection of products on the site is very small. There are so many great products that I have to add, products that can really make a lot of money (such as these). We already are all setup with this company, but have not added their products. As popular as exercise balls are, finding and seeing all of them that are available is like finding a needle in a haystack and I hoped to change all that. Of course, the new owner may have a different strategy in mind such as only selling a few products that are private labeled.

Some things exercise balls are used for:

  • Fitness
  • Therapy
  • Sensory
  • Stretches
  • Posture
  • Birth Balls - most hospitals have exercise balls
  • Sex
  • Kegel Exercise Balls

It's easy to see how great of an opportunity this is when there are many successful companies that are solely focusing on small segments of the Exercise Balls niche so a niche within the niche.

Companies like: (notice both of these sites have category killer premium exact match domains)

  • MedicineBalls.com
  • HopBalls.com (hey are a very solid business with lots of traffic; they say the World's Largest Selection of Hop Balls)

My intention for ExerciseBalls.com was to have the World's Largest selection of Exercise Balls which also includes hop balls. Kids and adults love Hop Balls.

Are there any geographical limitations to the potential buyer of the business?
No, there are no geographic limitations.

Do you keep physical inventory? How is inventory processed? Via email sent to dropshipper?

>> Directly from the seller -- here is some information on drop-shippers and opportunities yet to be realized! >>

//

I have established relationships with 6 vendors, but the site only has products from about 2 of those vendors so there are many products that can be added. All 6 vendors drop ship product directly to customers.

While we haven't fulfilled many orders with these companies, I signed up with them because I know they drop ship and had planned to add their products to the website. Each product is assigned to a drop shipper. While I don't know the exact process with each vendor, I can say that most vendors would receive a drop ship order notification email, ship the order using our UPS account #, then bill us depending on the payment plan we have setup with the vendor, some bill once a month and others right after shipping the order, but it really depends on how you and the vendor would like to set this up. If the order is shipped on your UPS account, then you would receive shipping notifications, but they can also ship orders on their account and just charge you for shipping so I am not certain what method is cheaper. I do much drop shipping with my other companies and if possible I prefer to make my own shipping labels and save them as a PDF, then email them to the drop shipper because that gives me more control over shipping and I use a service which gives me the absolute best shipping rates. While this way may not work with all vendors and definitely may involve a little more work, that is not the only benefit to doing it this way as then you can also ensure ExerciseBalls.com shows as the company on the shipping label rather than the drop shipper. Sorry to go into great detail, but this is the ultimate setup for drop shipping is having your company name on the shipping label, sometimes companies will do this if they ship on your account, but you usually have to ask. I am happy to work with the new owner and introduce them to all the vendors and help them nail down a workflow process.

Here is another product I was wanting to add to the website, but have not started working with this company or you could just do the same thing this guy is doing and get the product from China with your own private label.
http://superiorsupplementsandnutrition.com/

This is an awesome company that makes all their products in Italy and their whole focus is on Exercise Balls & Accessories which we already work with them, but have yet to add any of their products:
http://www.gymnic.com/en

Here they have the cool little exercise ball chairs for kids:
http://www.gymnic.com/en/wellfit/

They also make Exercise Balls for pets which is actually a really good niche to target in itself so this company along with another one we work with have a whole line of Exercise Balls made specifically for pets. (See the pics) You can see the many Youtube videos of animals that love playing with their exercise balls.

In Chrome this morning (does another search engine exist?), I couldn't find this site. I searched for "exercise balls" with and without quotes and looked through the first 10 pages of SERPs. This website is no where to be found for the main search term, your actual domain name.

Here is your exact quote:
"This is a 2-year old well-established website that is highly ranked in most search engines and is on the first page for Exercise Balls in most search engines."

Also, how could you possibly rank? There's almost no content on your site.

You have obviously made a false claim about your SEO and rankings. I'm happy to be corrected if you can prove otherwise.

Thanks.

@Ahansome Where exactly is the false claim? Owner did not claim top rankings in Google, but on most search engines, and proof of that is to follow in a subsequent comment. Additionally, with more time and work spent on the site, the opportunity to rank higher is achievable. Please revise your comment upon our further clarification, thank you.

Regarding rankings, via the owner:

"Since the site has been neglected, the rankings are not as good as they have been -- as most search engines like to see fresh content. The search results definitely change & fluctuate everyday. Earlier in this listing, the site was ranking on the 1st page of Bing & Yahoo.

The site has not been ranking in Google for Exercise Balls, but my guess would be that Google likes to see more activity on a website.

With more products added, along with fresh & unique content via blog posts that help answer relevant questions, address specific issues, and motivate readers to start using exercise balls, this site will certainly jump back up in the search engines.

Considering I have been doing nothing with this site for a while and it is still ranking well in the search engines, doing anything you can will help the rankings.

A search will show you how competitive the market is because a lot of people are making money, but targeting the niche with a category killer domain is the ultimate weapon.

The site is on page 7 of Google for Hop Balls and has never even had any hop ball products listed.

YouTube exercise ball fitness videos or sponsored ones would definitely be a good way to target customers.

The following is the results I am currently getting when searching in a private browser:

Exercise Balls
Bing = 2nd page #13
Yahoo = 2nd page #13
DuckDuckGo = 1st page
AOL = 2nd page #13

Exercise Ball Chairs
Bing = 4th page
AOL = 4th page
DuckDuckGo = 2nd page

Half Exercise Balls
Bing = 1st page #4
Yahoo = 1st page #4
DuckDuckGo = 1st page #4
AOL = 1st page #5

Hand Exercise Balls
Bing = 2nd page #15
Yahoo = 1st page #9
DuckDuckGo = 1st page #9
AOL = 1st page #9

/end"

@Starfire Holdings, To answer your question about the false claim; to say that it ranks on the first page of most search engines for the term "exercise balls," then have these results come back for that term:

Google = can't be found
Bing = 2nd page #13
Yahoo = 2nd page #13
DuckDuckGo = 1st page
AOL = 2nd page #13

This would be a claim, that is in fact, false. Why, because it isn't a claim that's true, is it?

I never said the site doesn't have potential or hasn't ranked better. All I did was simply evaluate your statement as it was worded. I'm sure it has lots of potential, but if I'm to spend 4-5K on anything it should be represented 100% accurately. I appreciate you clarifying it's rankings. I'm sure everyone else watching it does too. Thank you!

@Ahansome The seller's attachments re. first page rankings is quite recent. But we will go through and revise these statements accordingly. I am seeing the rankings change daily, and they also reflect differently on different browsers and in different locations.
