Description

SecretCoupons.com is a 9 year old profitable coupon site providing special offers to visitor. All traffic is organic and the site gets on average 3500 + unique visitors a month and double that in page views. (6000+ uniques during December)

Selling due to other business time contraints otherwise wouldn't since this is an easy mostly hands off site if I had time to pay a little more attention to it.

The site is listed in the first 2-3 pages in Google for terms like 'amazon.com coupons' and all traffic is organic - no paid traffic.

The site lists coupons and discounts for online merchants and has inbound links from many coupon related sites.

The domain name is premium and site is designed to make it easy to manage coupons easily. Complete custom merchant and coupon admin area exists to manage site. Currently spend less than a few hours monthly adding new coupons. Expired coupons are removed from the site automatically.

Site hosting is on our Cold Fusion Windows based hosting service account and database is MS SQL. Will include 1 month hosting free plus assistance during the first month to transition and help with site questions. Can continue hosting successful bidder at $35 a month.

Low overhead (only hosting costs) make this a very profitable business.

Successful bid also includes an audio download site:

http://audiobookpad.com/

which is an affiliate of audible.com.

Site is ripe for attention and huge potential exists to increase revenue substantially.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask!

Revenue Details

Site averages approx $450 a month over the last 12 months. $10,500 in 2008. Most revenue (and traffic) is during the holiday season November-January as well as the back to school season (August-September).

Revenue is from affiliate networks and merchants like Amazon, CJ, Linkshare, Half.com (eBay), CPA offers, Adsense and merchants directly.

Revenue is not optimized and potential is huge since there has been little effort put towards site improvements or optimization due to time constraints. Income is nearly hands off other than a few hours a month adding new coupons.

Price is set low for a quick sale. Similar and related domain names alone have sold for $5000 and up recently.

Huge potential to increase income on an established site with premium domain name.

[Please note: As noted above, highest income months are consistently fall and end of year holidays (see Aug 2008 Half.com screen cap). Current year revenue is consistent with past years since most income is earned in the 2nd half of the year and it's currently only May. Feel free to ask any questions. Thanks.]

Traffic Details

All traffic is organic from search engines plus links from other coupon related sites.

Added 3 months worth of keyword referral screenshots (Dec, Mar and May - partial to date) for reference on what type of traffic is coming through.

Are there any actual coupons? Seems like you just send them to amazon, etc...or am I missing something?

Some merchants provide coupon codes, others just deals like free shipping, discounts, special offers etc without a coupon code. We list them all, not just coupons since not all merchants provide an actual coupon code.

    Rev;

    * Where do you get the coupon ideas from?
    * Do readers submit coupon ideas? I would think this could get really time-consuming if they do, but then it could provide some great leads as well...
    * Are you including your accounts (CJ, etc.) or leaving it up to the buyer as to what ads they'd like to insert? May we assume you'll provide the buyer with a list of contacts, ad ideas, etc. that have done well for you? For instance, will you disclose which half.com, ebay products, linkshare and cj products, private merchants have proven profitable for you?
    * Unfortunately I am not familiar with cold fusion. Is the back end easy to work with, and how challenging would re-designing any elements be would you say? Also, are there special hosting requirements for such a site or can I assume the (normal) account where I host all my sites could easily handle this one?
    * I'm also wondering if there is a way to verify that your earnings come from only this site (as it it not referenced specifically in the earnings shots unless I missed it...)?

Thanks and best of luck with this,

    rule#1

Sure thing, the coupons mainly come directly from the merchants themselves. They make them available to their affiliates, some are exclusive, others are available to the public. Some coupons we find online and post to the site, sometimes even if we aren't affiliates. This helps with traffic.

Of course I would provide complete details and assistance during the transition to the new owner regarding adding/editing/maintaining coupons and merchants as well as overall site operation. It's all mostly automated, the main work is just copying and pasting the codes and affiliate links from the merchants. Normally takes a few hours a month on average, a little more during the holidays since there are many more available deals and coupons during that time period.

You would need to have or sign up for accounts with Amazon, ebay, cj, etc. You're welcome to add as many more merchants as you like, that's one of the reasons I'm selling since I don't have time to add to and enhance the site to increase the revenue even more.

Cold fusion is the language the site and admin panel were designed in. It's a language like PHP is. It's much easier than PHP to work with since it is more tag based and more friendly than php. You don't need to know anything about CF since the site works well as is and you can easily find CF programmers to enhance or change when needed. The site is now running on a windows server with Cold Fusion and MS SQL and would need at least that to run. Can continue hosting as mentioned in the auction and is probably the easiest alternative.

Earnings can be verified as much as the screen shots offer since there is nothing else I can provide other than the fact that you find the links on the site and the earnings statements reflect that. For example, the amazon account specifies 'secretcoupons' and if you click through a link on secretcoupons to amazon you'll find the same account name in the affiliate link.

    Hope this helps!
