Description

HourDeal.com is an affiliate marketing site which features a new deal every hour. The site is powered exclusively by the AvantLink.com affiliate network's Deal of the Day tool. More information can be found on the AvantLink.com blog here:

HourDeal Powered by AvantLink!

The site is completely maintenance free and will rotate products automatically from 12 different merchants, currently all from the outdoor recreation category. HourDeal.com features products from the most popular outdoor gear providers online including Altrec.com, Backcountry.com and REI. There is also a history page so visitors can view and purchase previous products that were featured throughout the day. The concept is modeled after sites like SteepandCheap.com and Woot.com which are very popular and thrive off of repeat visitors.

HourDeal.com is a descriptive brand and domain name. The key to the site's success will be increasing traffic. Leveraging HourDeal.com along with another affiliate marketing site, or outdoor recreation content site should prove successful. I am selling the site due to lack of time to continue to build traffic.

As the primary focus is outdoor-related gear (mostly skiing and snowboarding), we are entering the prime buying season, as well as the holiday shopping season. I have made arrangements with the folks at AvantLink to make the transfer of ownership as seamless as possible.

Payment by PayPal only. Feel free to ask any questions.

How much money do you generally make off of each sale? How many sales have you made?

From 9/08 - 11/08: 5 sales totaling $294.51. Commission of $28.03 for an average commission rate of 9.5%. These 5 sales originated from 202 click throughs for an average conversion rate of 2.48%. I would say there is enough data here to set a reasonable expectation of performance. Again, sending targeted traffic to the site will be the key to its success.

    Hi,

how do you select the product to list as deal ?
Is this a manual activity ?
Why do you use outdoor recreation category only ?
How much you get from AdSense ?

    Thanks,
    Nic.

Nic - the products change automatically. The site is currently set to highlight products from 12 different merchants. Each hour is "assigned" to a particular merchant. For example, the Altrec.com deal of the day will be featured at 1 am and 1 pm (ET), Backcountry.com at 2 am and 2 pm, etc. It is fully automated.

I run a couple of skiing/hiking/mountain biking related sites so featuring outdoor recreation products made the most sense. Also, outdoor recreation is AvantLink.com's strongest category:

    http://www.avantlink.com/all_merchants.php

The site could be set up to use any AvantLink.com merchant that uses the deal of the day tool. I do know there are a few other merchants in different categories that do, but again, because my primary sites are all outdoors related, I wanted to leverage that.

Adsense only generated a couple dollars the past few months. The leaderboard is not in a particularly visible location (bottom of the site). I'm sure the AdSense performance could be improved by better placement, but I wanted to focus primarily on the currently featured product.

Also, I had a question about the Twitter account. I would be happy to transfer that to the new owner as well.
