Description

Hi, Sitepointers:

I have for you today a blog from my network which is a year old this month, and is a valid PR4. The blog covers tips, tools, and resources for blogging and internet marketing.

http://www.g34media.com

BIN BONUSES ATTACHED: see below

I am selling because i need the cash and am selling many of my web properties, including this one. I hope to start a few new projects with the sale of this blog.

Let me tell you about the G34 Media blog.

The content on this blog is 100% original and written by me. It covers a pretty wide gamut from blogging tips to SEO and some misc topics. Most have been submitted to social media sites for backlinks.

By the way this blog has loads and loads of backlinks. Check your fave tool for the actual numbers. DNScoop shows over 60,000.

The design is a Wordpress SEO theme created by Daily Blog Tips and its called Studio Press Theme. This is a super easy to manage theme and has Adsense blocks built into it, so all you have to do is add your code. No messing with the theme files. Great for beginners. It is the reason i initially picked it out.

The traffic on G34 Media comes mainly from organic search including Google, Yahoo, MSN, and AOL. The rest comes from social media sites such as Twitter, Stumble Upon, and Digg.

I also will allow access to my Google Analytics account to serious buyers, for complete stat checking.

The most recent revenue on this blog was in August and has come from 2 site sales, a webhosting referral, and blog reviews. Total $230.

When i first started the blog, I did not actively seek out revenue, as it was simply a network hub for my sites. It wasn't till the last few months that i started to monetize it.

You can monetize with affiliate banners, as i have recently added, sell blog reviews, or add in Adsense blocks. I can help you with this if you need it.

The income potential of this blog is HUGE in the right hands.

The blog is SEO optimized and has the following wordpress plugins in use:

  • All In One Seo (fully configured and fully optimized)
  • Akismet - spam fighter
  • CommentLuv - to encourage community
  • Sociable - to submit your posts to social media sites
  • Subscribe To Comments
  • Feedburner Feedsmith - redirects your new RSS subs to feedburner so they can be tracked and counted
  • Wordbay - you can create an eBay store with this one
  • And many others

BIN BONUSES BELOW

If you hit the BIN button, i will thrown in the following premium bonuses for free:

  • 6 months free hosting
  • Fresh News - A premium wordpress theme (a $79 value)
  • OIO Publisher - a premium worpdress plugin that is an ad manager (a $47 value)
  • Another Site From My Network (my choice)

After Sale Support

I will help you in any way i can to make sure you are happy with the site. I will give the buyer my IM information should you want to chat with me anytime.

And if instead of going with my host, you want to add the site to your host account, i can transfer the site for you for only $20.

I have 100% feedback on SP and i am here to answer any questions you have. Simply send me a PM or leave a comment below.

Thanxs for looking!

Missy.

I also have other sites for sale. Do let me know which type of sites you seek.

Revenue Details

In August 2 network sites sold, a webhost affiliate referral was obtained, and blog reviews made. Total revenue was $230.

Other than that, i had Adsense on the site which didn't make much money. So i removed it and now the site has affiliate banners.

The blog was never meant to be a revenue producing site. It was a hub blog for my small network of sites and domain names.

Traffic Details

Mostly organic from Google, Yahoo, MSN, and AOL. I will give access to my Google Analytics account to serious buyers for stats checking.

The $230 / month you claim for revenue - did this happen only in August? What was September's and October's revenue?
Can you post screen shots of your traffic sources, please?

Hi, Hooperman. Thanxs for your question. Yes the revenue received was in August, as stated above in description. There was only some small Adsense revenue in September and October. I have since removed it and added in affiliate banners. A wp theme referral for $10 has been obtained, along with some other small referrals. It wasn't much, this is why i didn't include in total.

Screenshots of traffic sources has been added. Let me know any other questions. Thank You.

    Thanks for the screenshot.

So monthly revenue isn't $230. You can't just pick one good month in the site's history and present that as monthly revenue. That's misleading. The auction description gives the impression that this site makes $230 / month. It doesn't.

In the good month you mention site sales. How much of the $230 were they worth and in what way were they attributable to http://www.g34media.com/? I couldn't see a 'site for sale' section on the site.

The 37% referrer traffic - is that mainly from blog commenting, or another source?

    Thanks again.

Hooperman: There is no entry field for total revenue, only an entry field for monthly revenue. This is why i explain in the description that revenue was in the month of August. The listing page gives us room for further explanation. This is what i have done. Please read auction description again, i explain everything.

The 37% referrer traffic is from digg, stumble upon, twitter, other blogs, and yes commenting. But mostly the referrer traffic is from social media sites. If you're a serious buyer, feel free to ask any other questions. Thank You.

It is misleading to state that your monthly revenue is $230 when this happened *once* 3 months ago and the site made $0 in September, $0 in October and only $10 so far in November. Why not change the description to state a revenue of $0 and then explain what happened in August. That would be more accurate.

Also, how much revenue did the site make in the preceding months?

In the one good month the site had, you mention 2 network site sales. How much of the $230 were they worth and in what way were they attributable to http://www.g34media.com/? I couldn't see a 'site for sale' section on the site.

    Thanks.

chicagocubsfan, I haven't yet received a pm from you.

I'm quite interested in those site sales and what part G34 Media played in them, though, if you could divulge.

Let me rephrase the question: why is the revenue from those site sales attrbuted to G34 Media and not you personally? If *you* owned those sites, surely the money made on their sale is your personal income, not G34's revenue. Unless, of course, you're running G34 as a company that employs you and pays you a salary and *it* owned the sites, but then it becomes more complicated.

Also, you present the revenue from those sales but mention nothing of the associated costs i.e. what you originally bought those sites for and how much time and money you invested in them before selling. You need to present both revenue AND costs for anyone to make a fair assessment of this site's value.

As far as I can see, the money made from your site flipping endeavours should not be attributed to G34's revenue.

*You* found those sites to buy in the first place, *you* assessed their value, bought them, developed them, marketed them and then sold them. This is revenue earned by your efforts, not G34's. To claim revenue from those sales as belonging to G34 is wrong, unless I'm missing something.

I'm interested in your site. I'm just trying to separate the revenue earned by you, from that earned by the site.
I can't value the site until I've done this. Unless you come with the site :-) Also, knowing ALL the costs incurred will help (i.e. cost of those sites when you bought them, how much time and money you invested).

Also, could you give me a breakdown of revenue earned from all sources, please. The $230 sum total makes it hard to know which source made which amount.

    Thanks very much.

This is my last official response to you. The sites were not found or bought. I create all my sites. Nothing was bought. The $230 in revenue was as follows: 3 blog reviews $60, small site sale $45, another site sale $125. If you take a close look at my Paypal screenshot above you will see that the items not covered equal the $230.

    Thank you.

Thank you chicagocubsfan. Can you now tell me what the costs were so I can work out the real profit. How much time and money did you spend on the sites you sold? Also, how much time did you spend on the blog reviews? When I know these costs I will deduct them from the $230 to get a better idea of what the profit is. I need to know this because I don't want to buy a site that is making a loss.

I'm still not sure (as you haven't yet explained) why you attribute your 'site flipping' revenue to G34 Media and not your own personal income. Did G34 facilitate the sale in some way? You understand why I need to know this: if G34 was not involved in those sales, I won't include them in its revenue.

    Thanks again chicagocubsfan.

    Hooperman,

If you look on the About page on the site you will see a list of sites that have sold and sites currently available for sale. It looks as if she is using the site to advertise/facilitate the sales of the sites.

Of course she personally profited from the sale of the sites. That's the purpose of all monetization . . . profit for the site owner.

What time and effort did she put into it. All sites take some effort. It takes effort to write blog posts. It takes effort to get traffic. If creating and selling sites is too much effort for you then choose another avenue of monetization.

If you choose to follow that revenue model then it is already set up for you and you just have to plug in any sites that you have created or purchased for resale. The traffic is there, it's up to you to take advantage of it.

What I'm concerned about is whether revenue made through personal efforts selling sites on Sitepoint/DP/etc has been wrongly attributed to G34, simply to inflate the site's revenue figures. I suspect that the revenue made in site sales has nothing at all to do with G34. She can't simply flip 2 sites and claim the proceeds as G34's revenue any more than I can claim the money I make from selling my unwanted gifts on ebay as my website's revenue.

If G34 was instrumental in making those sales, then that's a different story. It's bit hard to tell though as the site owner continues to obstruct my efforts to get the details.
