Description

I’m guessing that your first question is why I’m selling…

Over the last few months I’ve spending more and more time on my affiliate marketing ventures and less time blogging.  I still enjoy blogging but for me, affiliate marketing has been much more profitable and fits into my lifestyle more. Easily.  I just don’t have the time needed to keep PureBlogging.com updated and growing.

I thought long and hard about this.  And in the end, decided it would be better to pass the site on to someone who can give it attention that it deserves rather let it just fade into oblivion.

I think given the proper attention, the blog can grow and flourish.  I just don’t have the time or desire needed to make that happen.

A few stats:

  • PageRank 4
  • 1100-1200 RSS Subscribers
  • Alexa 121,463
  • Compete 229,370
  • Technorati 26,816, Authority 185
  • 357 Posts
  • 10,661 Backlinks (Yahoo! Site Explorer)

If you would like to see any other stats just let me know.

One other note: I’ve never done a lot social media marketing so the blog is not banned anywhere (Digg, Reddit, Mixx, etc.).

Revenue Details

Revenue is mostly through private ad sales and sponsored posts with a little affiliate income along the way.  Tested but never ran Adsense or Kontera links for an extended period of time.  I probably never did a good job of monetizing the site because I felt the content was more important.  The new owner could certainly increase income with a little experimentation.

Revenue has dropped dramatically because content is no longer added on a regular schedule.  I stopped posting a couple of months ago.  I did hire a few freelance writers that kept the site going for a while but no posts have been published in a month.

Here is a monthly breakdown for this year:

January – $828.11
February - $885.00
March - $465
April - $395.00
May - $197.36
June - $99.34
July - $17.03

The ad inventory sold as long as I tried to find new advertisers but as you can see, I stopped recruiting new advertisers in February of this year.

Traffic Details

Search Engines: 24.12%
Referring Sites: 61.37%
Direct Traffic: 14.51%

Traffic is also down because of the lack of posts.  During active months, the traffic would average 10,000 to 11,000 visitors and 20,000 to 25,000 pageviews.  I believe if the new owner regularly posts fresh new content that these levels could be reached easily.

Nice blog. I'm interested. A few questions:

    - Where did you get the Wordpress theme?
    - Can you PM me the top 10 referrer sites responsible for your referral traffic?
    - What percentage of your advertisers continued to buy ads after the first month?
    - How long have your current advertisers been advertising on your site?

    8. 45n5.com / referral - 801
    9. blogger-templates.blogspot.com / referral - 746
    10. entrecard.com / referral - 456

    And for this month:

    1. google / organic - 888
    2. (direct) / (none) - 449
    3. stumbleupon.com / referral - 417
    4. yahoo / organic - 260

Your blog seems really great. I have just a question: Why have the revenues been falling since February?
Also, could you let me know your BIN?

    Hi webmpoint,

I will PM you about the BIN.

As mentioned in the description, I stopped doing all the things necessary to keep the income at that level. I stopped writing new posts, following up with current advertisers, trying to find new advertisers, responding to comments and questions, etc. I did pay freelance writers to create content for a while but without me managing the site properly the income dropped to it's current level.

I believe if someone has the time to manage the site properly and can create new content regularly the income and traffic will rebound. I just don't have the time or desire to. I thought it was time to give someone else a chance rather than just letting the site die.

    Thanks for the question!

    David

    Hi williamjr,

I just uploaded a screen shot from Google's Webmaster Tools that show the top keywords. It also gets search engine traffic from Yahoo! but the screen shot should give you an idea of the most popular keywords.

    Thanks,

    David

I have set a BIN price of $6000 since so many people wanted to see one. I also lowered the reserve price.

    Thanks,

    David

I just lowered the reserve price to $3000. I feel like that is a really, really good deal for the lucky new owner. Let me know if you have any other questions.
