Description
I bought this domain from the original owner a few years ago. As you can see there has been a site up and running since at least 1999 http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://webmasters.org
I tried the site at first as a social network and when that didn't catch on I switched it to a forum, with a directory, blog, and auction using phpprobid. vbulliten and phpprobid cost me money for the license and to have them installed. Obviously this site has huge potential but right now the revenue and traffic are nominal. Here are the adsense stats. Not shown here is the fact that any posts done in which a user enters in their adsense ID goes to the forum poster.
June 08
webmasters.org 5,083 13 0.26% $0.51 $2.61 webmasters.org 7,588 87 1.15% $3.13 $23.72 webmastersblog 2,166 5 0.23% $1.18 $2.56 webmastersdirectory 1,183 3 0.25% $0.38 $0.45 webmastersforum 12,145 61 0.50% $1.14 $13.82 webmastersfront 1,128 6 0.53% $3.88 $4.38
There may be some overlap in these channels.
One could easily earn really good money from selling text links. I just always felt it was too risky.
Site has some rankings for keywords like, webmasters, webmasters forums, websites for sale, google website tools.
Someone that has the time and know how to improve, promote and brand Webmasters.org could do really well with it. But I have come to the realization that I don't have the time and won't anytime soon.
At the same time I know this is a very valuable domain and will hold it if I don't feel there is enough interest. I am not setting a BIN now but may later.

Hey FlezMaster, basically I am looking to get fair market value. If I feel like sitepoint helps me do that then that's great and I will be happy to sell at whatever that price winds up being. But here are the stats I am looking at, and don't forget about the age of the site, and links.
Webmaster.nl €12,000 = $16,141 Sedo
http://www.dnjournal.com/archive/domainsales/2007/domainsales05-29-07.htmThere have been good .org sales in the past
Sexe.org $151,400 Pvt Sale
Date.org $150,349 SnapNames
Loan.org $105,500 SnapNames
Coffee.org $100,000 Sedo 6/3/08
Boats.org $50,249 SnapNames
Lottery.org 66,667 Sedo
WebTip.com 9,100 = $12,011 Sedo
SearchEngines.com $92,500 Moniker/T.R.A.F.F.I.C. 4/29/08
SEO.de €48,000 = $70,896 Sedo 1/29/08Many sites that cater to webmasters are some of the most profitable sites on the web. See shoemoney.com and problogger.net
So yes I think it is worth a lot, but no I will not set an exact price, I like auctions. -

Yahoo! shows 9 incoming links ... and two are from this SitePoint auction. What's going on with that?

I see 709 yahoo links and 65 google links, not 9.
http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/advsearch?p=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.webmasters.org&bwm=i&bwmo=d&bwmf=sGood luck with the sale - very nice domain. Wish I had any ability to get the finance to put in a bit, but at moment I don't (you could have waited a few months!) :)

Hefty price for a low income site. As a mature site with fair page ranking one would think you had the time to max up the income. $6000 gives me shivers !!!.

You realise the value is in the domain right, and not the site content nor income? It will go for an awful lot more than $6k.

Hey Guys,
I agree with pap_itfc, real value is in the domain. Secondary value is in age of site and number and age of links. Then maybe someone might be interested in all the pieces I tried to throw together to make webmasters.org similar to sitepoint. I still believe with more effort my strategy would grow. All the posts on the forum are natural so it starting to grow. But most likely someone will buy it and take it a totally different direction. Hey Google and Yahoo bought sitemaps.org not too long ago. You never know. It's a great investment I think but it is time for me to cash out.
Thanks,
Chad -

The sale is not for the site but for the domain. I am not a domainer, but this sure is a great domain name. I think you would be better off finding a partner, or even lend out the domain or even find a broker to help lend it.. I really wanted to comment.. Sorry if anyone finds it irrelevant.

I agree with sitespotter. I own r s c o r e.com its a nice domain. A private investigator sent me a letter from the US to me in the UK:) asking the price of it for one of his clients. I layed an offer on the table etc. They could not afford the buy it now fee. So i lease the domain to them for $10k a year, and i have given them a buy out clause. you should do the same thing mate :)

Hi DomainPower. At 10k per year it would take 4 years just to get to the current bid. I am committed to this auction.
thanks,
Chad
