Description
I started roScripts as a hobby in late 2006 (octomber) and has quick become a starting point into learning design & programming for many web-developers. Given the unique and impressive design + very interesting content it is featured on most of the css galleries out there, digged on the frontpage more than 10 times I think and blogged in thousands of places. Receives more than 2k uniques and 5-6k+ hits every day and has a huge potential into anything related to the programming and design world. By potential I easilly refer to marketers who sell scripts, ebooks, software or anything related to this world.
roScripts currently grabs more than 90-100 new signups every day and well over 50 newsletter subscribers daily as well. In the right hands, this portal can really do a lot of things. Every site that I linked to roScripts received at least PR5 in the first update and that is because the website is really trusted and respected.
In this price I include 12000 members,5000 newsletter subscribers, 1000 RSS subscribers, 100 unique and strong articles (content), 700 scripts submitted by users (content), 10k news (content), 162 snippets (content), 43 directory submissions : just launched (content), sendstudio (professional script to manage newsletters), vbulletin forum license.
I know what I'm selling, I'm not crazy, I'm quite educated with the actual web and know the power of this portal.
After the nice words you probably want to know the basic question, why I'm selling it right? To be honest, from love. I recently changed the business by switching to ecommerce and I don't have time for roScripts any more. It's a pitty to let it go but it's a shame to let it die. It needs nothing, a good article per week maybe would keep it young and fresh. With a little more attention, trust me, it can easily fight with the big guys.
roScripts is sectioned in 7 big areas as follows:
- articles: which brings the most traffic
- scripts: hotscripts like software repository
- Jobs: place to post jobs, hire freelancers etc (can be a good income provider as the traffic is there)
- resources: a digg like application (custom coded by myself, no third party scripts whatsoever) with close to 10k news (auto-updates via cron)
- snippets: another application where everyone is free to post/bookmark/save programming snippets
- web-directory: as the name goes, a web directory
- forum: one of the main reasons why I sell roScripts, I can't be active any more. The forum can boost very quiclky as well
Features:
- nice and friendly admin interface
- custom code all over the place
- scripting done in PHP/MySql, Codeigniter was used (supports caching and many other features), great framework, 100% Object oriented
- unique, web2.0 design
- a lot of ajax features
- many tools to attract and keep the visitors on the page, make them register
- organic traffic (90% from google since we rank very high for a huge amount of keywords)
The included screenshot lists the top 20 entry pages for February, as you can see I have articles there that bring 6k+ uniques/month alone.
May numbers:
- 62k uniques
- 170k page views
That's all. Thank you.
Revenue Details
I can give you some income figures as a reference. I currently advertise 2 products on roScripts (webmaster related scripts of course), one at $29 and the other at $79. You can search the web in any method you know/want to see that I'm not doing any kind of advertising for those 2 scripts except for the banners I have on roScripts. My last month's income was close to $5000 thanks to the referals from roScripts.

Is the revenue from your script sales or specifically from the roScripts site (advertising, etc)?

The revenue is from the customers that roScripts sends. Script sales yes.
The forum needs attention but can be boosted with some clever newsletters and contests.
