Description

Summary: Callitfake.com was initially established in 2006 as a sister site to senditfake.com. After the site was developed and launched it was forgot about, until late last year when it began to get popular, through organic traffic and the numerous sites beginning to link to it naturally. I was preparing to sell it last summer and was listed on sitepoint. The winning bid was $4500.00 and I had a private offer I was handling for $6000.00USD; which I began to accept. The offerer disappeared and I left the site sitting idle -- however it is still performing.

Reason for selling: I've been a bit hesitant about selling callitfake. It was initially started has a joke but turned out to really be worthwhile. The site has been a fun venture and has received 0 complaints of serious abuse or mis-treatment by its users. CDYNE has been fully cooperative with our venture and demonstration of their system and has been wonderful to us. There have been modifications to the CDYNE system but it still does not seem to be affecting the amount of users utilizing the site. Most people attempt it to see what it does; then click-off through ads.

Would love to see someone take the site, domain, and traffic and do something clever with it.

What people say.. is quite entertaining. I've recieved thousands upon thousands of emails of users asking for the service to be opened up in their country or providence. The website has been linked to from Clear Channel Communiations Playhouse, Various social networking sites, digg, delicious, readit and forums.

Callitfake.com is currently a PR5

Advertising Campaigns are not running anywhere for this website. Its traffic is natural and organic, aside from individuals listing it in their del.icio.us feeds and such.

Asking price: the site made an average of $455.00 per month in 2007 and has had similar results this year.

Serious bidders need only inquire and offer!

With the pagerank now at a 5, versus a 4 before; even more advertising potential exists. I am also including senditfake.com which is #2 on Google results for "send fake email." The site has exceptional traffic and screen shots are attached. It is currently displaying Adsense ads as well and between the two sites brought in $818.00 in April.

I copied/pasted much of the content for the posting from the previous auction. However, notice in the statistics that the traffic stats for both sites has become higher than they were previously. The adsense revenue stream is constant with the traffic and I will post screen captures of revenue this afternoon.

The site currently sits on a dedicated server with many of my other projects and could operate on a small shared platform. Overall, the site is pure profit and all by fluke really. But traffic doesn't appear to be dieing down; as I thought it would end of last year. But it has stayed strong for almost 2 full years.

Does the site still work? I just tried sending a message to myself and got an automated message unrelated to my text.

The sites still function, however I have not updated any of the scripting for the site to function with the new hooks from CDYNE. With a litte maintenance it would be back to perfect. Honesty, it's just about traffic. It gets a lot of traffic and thats what I want to sell. The established PR, backlinks, and traffic.

What are your costs for using cdyne services? Their APIs are not free.
