Tell us a little about yourself. What’s your background? What got you excited about this business when you acquired it?

When I was 13, I made my first PayPal transaction for a box of tshirts sourced from China so they can be resold online through eBay. Naturally, I’ve evolved quite a bit since then.

I grew up in a village with less than 1000 people and jumped on the first opportunity to get out and see the world. I received a track and field scholarship to study in Michigan where I specialized in Finance and Economics as well as Spanish although my first language is French. I’ve worked for several large multinational companies and earned the prestigious Chartered Financial Analyst designation a few years ago.

In Canada, I am also a Chartered Investment Manager and I’m currently working on the Chartered Market Technician designation. Back in 2014, an Italian client I was personal training was into day trading and offered mentorship, he was kind enough to offer his course to me for free and I’ve been hooked ever since.

Shortly after, I became a Sales Executive for one of the biggest CFD brokers in the world – CMC Markets and climbed the corporate ladder which eventually landed me in Australia as their Head of Sales for the entire Asia Pacific region. At the beginning of 2020, I noticed a huge gap in the day trading world, namely on the premium signals and education side of things. More marketers than actual traders so I took my combined experience and launched an uber successful company.

How are you currently growing your client base?

New clients are coming through word of mouth and strategic partnerships.

Many educators have business models where they generate money from their clients trading with brokers. This model is focused on subscriptions to premium high quality signals that are incredibly transparent and upselling clients premium education courses.

By aligning with an IB, they recommend our trading signals which have performed exceptionally well since the first month (verifiable) to their clients. Their clients end up trading more often as we send 3-4 signals per day across all asset classes which generates more revenue for their clients and provides a new subscriber for Trade Doctors – a real win-win scenario and a very easy sell to new partners. We provide them with a 30% discount to their students to students have an absolute incentive to go through their educator before buying our services. 

How is the educational content sourced? Are you creating this or do you have contractors or teammates working with you?

I have created every course on the site and I have edited the content myself. I don’t have a background in video editing or anything like that but I do find it quite easy to use Adobe software to piece these things together. The content is truly best in class and it does a great job of combining 10 years of trading and industry experience.

What does someone need to know in order to continue managing the signaling software? Does one need a tech background? An engineer on the team? Is there anything proprietary about your particular software?

Nothing proprietary – just good ole fashion work. I send signals between 8am and 12pm every morning. I get up, have a coffee, read up market news, run through a few different programs that show me big movers and big losers, I filter out the list and then overlay some of my favorite technicals and see if I can find 3-4 non correlated assets to share with the Telegram group. All the signals are sent via Telegram which is free to use.

How much time does it take to run the business, who else is needed on the team, and what is automated?

At the moment, it could take about 1 hour per day to run the business as is. An extra 30 minutes to answer emails that come through from potential new clients and current clients.

Can you list a few opportunities for a potential new owner to continue growing the business?

This is a very exciting question! There are so many opportunities in this space right now.

Next up, I would focus on creating broker specific packages including platform courses. For example, you could create a course specifically on the CMC Markets Next Gen platform and wrap in signals and trading education. You could reach out to the broker and pitch to them this solution.

It requires a LOT of resources for brokers to constantly update their platforms for new features and issue new training videos. Also, it’s very helpful to have trading experience when putting these together as you’ll know how to put the content together the best.
