Tell us a little about yourself. What’s your background? How did you start with this concept?

I’m an SEO guy, ranking sites on Google and relying on that for business is what I’ve done for over 10 years. I started Cartly as an experiment in using high intent keywords to drive e-commerce sales after mostly working on lead generation and content sites in the past. I’d say that experiment was successful!

What are your top selling products? Is there a focus to the collection or is it simply based on keyword algorithms that work to your advantage?

My top selling products are vape products however, we do get high volumes of sales in the medical category (masks, thermometers), mobile accessories category (Bluetooth headphones, phone covers), and fitness category (at home fitness equipment).

What are some of your key figures? Average order value? Conversion rate?  Return customer rate? Profit margins?

Our average daily value is around 500$, average order value is around 45$ Conversion rate is at 6% based on a bounce rate of 60%, not much effort has gone into improving conversion rate so there is opportunity there.

As for SEO, is this all product page SEO or are you writing blog posts or other content? Are you developing all of the content or do you have help?

Majority of SEO efforts and backlinks spread equally towards product pages and blog pages.

How much time does it take to run the business, who else is needed on the team, and what is automated?

I spend 1~3 hours a day fulfilling orders. No one else is needed. The process of fulfilling orders is easily outsourceable, and the plugin I use to integrate products (AliDropship) can mostly be used to automate order fulfillment as well. I often message the supplier directly to negotiate a better price and improve my margin (slightly).

Can you list a few opportunities for a potential new owner to continue growing the business?

I love this question. I actually answered this in the “Who would this business be perfect for?” question on the parent listing. I’d recommend reading that, but in short, I think there’s opportunities in 

  • product diversification
  •  inventory holding in the U.S to improve shipping times from the dropshipping business model.
  • An ongoing and healthy seo campaign will ensure this site’s growth. If you want my advice, don’t spend a penny on smm, spend it towards seo. I could share some strategies. 
  • Offer coils subscriptions, toothbrush and dental accessories  subscriptions, shaving and grooming equipment subscriptions via upsell through checkout or other forms.  the traffic is there why not use it to grow a monthly recurring base. 
  • Product manufacturing based on traffic analysis.
