Tell us a little about yourself. What’s your background? How did you start the business?

I’ve been working as a freelance digital marketer providing SEO and content marketing services for over 5 years now. That’s my full-time gig but I also own/operate a couple of websites on the side to generate passive income.

I bought this website near the end of 2020. It was receiving good traffic but wasn’t monetized. I wasn’t sure why the previous owner hasn’t monetized it but what I knew for sure was that it CAN be monetized so I bought the website and after just a little bit of digging, the reason turned out to be plagiarized content.

I start updating the content and once I was halfway through, I applied for monetization the site was accepted by Adsense but the revenue wasn’t worthwhile so I later switched to Ezoic which offers much better rates.

There’s still plenty of content on the website that needs updating which presents a huge opportunity for the potential buyer. Due to reasons briefly discussed on the listing page, I haven’t been able to update the articles myself but my realistic assessment is that once all of the remaining content on the website is updated, the revenue can easily go above $1000 per month with no expenses at all other than hosting.

Is the asset on your listing owner-operated, how much time does it take to run the business, who else is needed on the team, and what is automated?

The asset is owned solely by me and it’s running 100% on auto-pilot. I can’t even remember the last time I logged into the backend. The profits just keep adding to my account every month.

What does someone need to do to continue operating the business in its current form?

In order to continue operating the business in its current form (which would be a huge waste), the buyer just needs to take ownership of the domain and set up the website on their hosting and work with me to transfer the Ezoic Premium contract to them. Speaking of which, once they inherit the contract, they will become eligible for a free premium and will receive excellent support from Ezoic so even if the buyer is someone who hasn’t used Ezoic before, they won’t have any problems at all.

Growing the business

Can you list a few opportunities for a potential new owner to continue growing the business?

1) Update all of the existing content (will result in a significant boost in revenue for sure)
2) Add more content to the website as there are hundreds of airlines out there but this website covers less than 60.
3) Create infographics for the posts and share them on Pinterest. It can be a great source of traffic and if someone manages to pull this off, they can see a substantial increase in revenue.

What has been the evolution of this asset since its launch?

This website has been pretty much growing at a steady pace.

How does this business make money? What are the current revenue streams?

Currently, there’s only one revenue stream, Ezoic Ads.

What marketing channels are most profitable for the business?

For additional traffic, I believe Pinterest would be the best place to market this website by creating infographics for posts.

How does the business currently acquire customers and what is your breakdown for marketing costs?

The site receives over 90% of traffic from Google, most of which comes from the USA. This is as good as it gets. There are zero marketing costs.

How big is your current team? How many people does it take to run this business?

Single man army. Just me and myself.

What’s the reason for selling your business on Flippa?

As far as I know, Flippa is the largest marketplace for buying and selling websites. Although it has its pros and cons compared to other marketplaces, what made me choose Flippa to list this business is the fact that it has a huge number of buyers and I’m looking to sell this business as soon as possible.
