Featured Listing: Janitorial Supply Company

This featured listing is quite interesting as it is a janitorial supply company that is young, but doing really great. We all know that cleaning is a booming niche right now and we don’t see any reason to think that this trend will end anytime soon as cleanliness has always been an important part of life. The really great aspect for this business is that they focus on the corporate side of the market rather than home cleaning supplies which allows them to target a smaller collection of high volume, high value customers.

Tell us a little about yourself, how did you start your janitorial supply company?

This was my first true eCommerce business, though I have had experience selling on Ebay and Amazon.

To get this project set up, the first priority was quality supplies. I first made a lot of calls and sent out a ton of emails trying to find a supplier who would drop ship products quickly to customers. I found my first major supplier after about 3 months searching non-stop. I then started to search for bamboo chemical free bedding/towels. I found a company who was able to drop ship  items quickly to customers which is just what I wanted. In this field, customers want their items fast and they want brands they trust. The suppliers I chose are able to ship products fast to my customers within 1-3 days for cleaning products and within 3-7 days for bedding items.

What happened to drive your traffic so high in the past two months?

A year’s worth of SEO back-linking and popular blog posts. It looks like most of the traffic is organic, with a percent coming from Facebook posts, Google retargeting ads, and a percent coming from businesses who were mailed flyers.

The business hasn’t been around for very long and you’ve found almost immediate success. How have you marketed the product and where are your customers originating from?

Customers are coming from the USA. I spent a lot of money and time researching similar businesses before starting my own. A lot of time and money has been spent on SEO to improve organic search. Money has been spent on Google retargeting ads as well as calling businesses to get recurring sales set up.

How much time a week to does it take to run it and what is automated?

About 15-20 hours a week is spent on the business and it is mostly automated at this point. It is a drop-ship service, so there is no warehousing or shipping to deal with on a regular basis. Mostly just being sure orders are fulfilled and working on marketing.

What does someone need to do to continue operating the business in its current form?

I would send out the flyers that come with the website. Continue running Google ads and call potential business customers to help improve sales.  There is a 15% return customer rate right now.

Can you list a few opportunities to Grow for a prospective buyer?

Running facebook ads continuously, calling businesses and going to local facilities to improve sales, YouTube ads and organic postings on different Platforms.
