Background in Investment Banking and Investing. Bought the business in 2014.
As an e-Commerce business, where are your products made?
All over. Primarily Australia and Switzerland. As an eCommerce business, what can you tell us about your Customer Lifetime Value (CLV) and Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC)CLV is $4.83 per user.
How have you marketed the product and where are your customers originating from?
We use Social Channels, Google Ads, have organic traffic and a strong reputation.
Is the asset on your listing owner-operated, how much time does it take to run the business, who else is needed on the team, and what is automated?
The business is run by a single owner/operator. Everything is set up for easy operation and most of the tasks can be run from home. Only picking and packing need to be done at the warehouse. Current on-premise hours are 8 am to 3 pm.
What does someone need to do to continue operating the business in its current form?
Some experience operating an eCommerce business would be helpful but not essential. When I bought the business I had no experience.
Can you list a few opportunities for a potential new owner to continue growing the business?
There are many as the business currently operates in a niche with many natural market extensions. Even within the niche, there are many brands and opportunities. For one example; the business currently stocks just 1 brand of baby formula. This could easily be expanded to other brands.
What has been the evolution of this asset since its launch?
Yes and no. At its core is the sale of Breast Pumps. From that extends breast pump parts and accessories. From that is bottles, teats, baby feeding etc. The current business has been capacity-constrained by the owner’s limitations and the current warehouses limited size.
How does this business make money? What are the current revenue streams?
All revenue comes from online sales of our goods.What marketing channels are most profitable for the business?
Our most consistent converter is Google Ads. Our weak point is Social Media. The current owner has poor social media skills and knowledge and whilst for many comparable businesses social media is the main strength. This has to date been a weakness but is, therefore, a huge opportunity for new owners.
How does the business currently acquire customers and what is your breakdown for marketing costs?
The bulk of our acquisition is via Google Ads, which accounts for roughly 70% of marketing spend.
