Featured Listing: 2-Year-Old eCommerce Business in the Artistic & Automotive Industry

About the business

Tell us a little about yourself. What’s your background? How did you start the business?

I’ve been in the eCommerce space for around 4 years now and started Tuner Cartoons in January of 2020. I’m very passionate about cars and wanted to create a business that brought my passion and work together so that I could enjoy working on it every day.

As an eCommerce business, where are your products made?

Our products (drawings) are digital and are made by our team of artists from around the globe. We offer some printing options for the drawings through the print on demand company Printify.

What can you tell us about your Customer Lifetime Value (CLV) and Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC)

Our customer lifetime value is higher than any other business I’ve ever worked on. Our returning customer rate over the last year is nearly 16%. Almost all of our reviews are 5 stars and customers often buy more than one drawing.

How have you marketed the product and where are your customers originating from?

We are currently marketing on Facebook and through Emails with Klaviyo. Our customers are mostly from the USA, Australia, and Canada, but also the UK and New Zealand.

Is the asset on your listing owner-operated, how much time does it take to run the business, who else is needed on the team, and what is automated?

To maintain the business at its current level it takes only a couple of hours per week from the owner. We have already built a team of over 10 artists, and have 2 Virtual Assistants managing the day to day operations of the business.

What does someone need to do to continue operating the business in its current form?

To continue operating the business in its current form the new owner will need to manage the Facebook Ads (or whatever other platform they may choose to use), pay the artists on the team weekly, answer occasional questions from the VAs, and respond to the occasional customer email that the VAs can’t answer.

Growing the business

What has been the evolution of this asset since its launch?

We saw serious growth when we transitioned from all Print on Demand to primarily selling digital products. We also nearly tripled our sales after growing our team of artists and introducing our Baby Car Drawing style.

How does this business make money? What are the current revenue streams?

All revenue is generated from sales on the online Shopify store.

How does the business currently acquire customers and what is your breakdown for marketing costs?

New customers are primarily acquired through Facebook Ads, which makes up the entirety of the marketing costs.

What marketing channels are most profitable for the business?

Facebook Advertisements and Klaviyo Email Flow.

How big is your current team? How many people does it take to run this business?

The current Tuner Cartoons team consists of 14 people. The owner, 2 virtual assistants, and 11 artists.

What’s the reason for selling your business on Flippa?

I started this business over two years ago and it has been an amazing experience and source of income. While it currently doesn’t take much time at all to maintain and manage, I’m extremely busy with a new venture. All I have the time and energy to do is maintain Tuner Cartoons and continue running it at its current level. I have put a lot of time into it over the last couple of years and would prefer to pass it on to someone that can put in the time to give it the growth it deserves.
