This is a followup to a recent interview with the seller of Carabiner.com [Seller Case Study: When A $1 Reserve Price Pays Off Big]. Here you’ll hear from the buyer of this domain name, and his experience using Flippa to secure what he hopes to turn into a thriving eCommerce hub.
How did you happen to find Carabiner.com on Flippa?
I was just browsing through available domains on Flippa. I had just recently attended a domainer conference and was buying and registering some domain names; I decided to see what was available on Flippa.
What prompted or motivated you to invest in Carabiner.com?
The fact that it was a single word, a physical product and a .COM extension really caught my attention. Those three criteria make for the best domains according to everything I’d heard and read about investing in domain names.
Did anything the seller do by way of due-diligence, listing style or process “seal-the-deal” for you, or were you simply set on this domain name no matter what?
I pretty much knew that this was a highly valued domain name because of the criteria listed above — but attaching the Estibot evaluation did help as far as making the due diligence easier.
Can you give us a glimpse into future plans you have for Carabiner.com?
As soon as I saw the name I thought of setting up an eCommerce store for rock climbing and related gear. I’ve got some other online projects that are currently taking up my time but in the near future I should be able to work on Carabiner.com more and have a proper storefront set up.
Anything else you’d like to share about your buying experience?
Everything was really smooth. Communication back and forth with the seller was great and I think Escrow.com is a great way to protect both the buyer and seller.
