About the business
Tell us a little about yourself. What’s your background? How did you start the business?
I’m a designer that created No Bun Please after starting a Keto diet, an eating plan I first discovered on Reddit. I was very successful with Keto and was always getting questions about it. I found it much easier to point someone to a blog post than to explain the entire process, so No Bun Please was born. At one point, Keto got really big and my site traffic increased significantly. I was able to join a really great ad network (AdThrive) and make a nice passive income for the past few years.
As an eCommerce business, where are your products made?
My only actual products are eBooks that are distributed via SendOwl.
How have you marketed the product and where are your customers originating from?
My customers come from organic search traffic mostly. A small percentage is from social media.
Is the asset on your listing owner-operated, how much time does it take to run the business, who else is needed on the team, and what is automated?
Yes, owner-operated. Less than 1 hour per week as I do not really update it often. I’m the only team member. Distributing eBook purchases is automated.
What does someone need to do to continue operating the business in its current form?
General use of WordPress/social media. For new content, knowledge of Keto or access to writers with knowledge of Keto.
Growing the business
Can you list a few opportunities for a potential new owner to continue growing the business?
New/updated content with a focus on SEO is a big one. Videos on popular posts. Social media reels seem to be really popular and beneficial.
There’s a lot of room for sponsorships and new affiliates. While there are ads on the website, social media and the e-mail list have not been used for sales at all.
What has been the evolution of this asset since its launch?
It started as a reference for my friends and family on the Keto diet. Then, serendipitously, Keto blew up and my site started getting a lot of traffic. I was able to get into a great ad network (AdThrive) that pays very well.
How does this business make money? What are the current revenue streams?
Mostly ads. Other revenue streams include affiliates and eBook sales.
What marketing channels are most profitable for the business?
I don’t use any paid marketing services at the moment.
How does the business currently acquire customers and what is your breakdown for marketing costs?
I have a link in my navigation with eBooks that are available for purchase. I also collect subscribers who sign up for email updates.
How big is your current team? How many people does it take to run this business?
Me, 1 person team.
What’s the reason for selling your business on Flippa?
I don’t have the time to keep up with the site. While the passive income has been nice, traffic is on a slow decline over time. With more consistent updates, SEO and marketing, I know it can likely bring in a lot more money.
