What’s your background? How did you start the business?

Hi, my name is Brandon Fuentes, I’m the founder of Hang 2 Win. Hang 2 Win started in March of 2018 as a fitness challenge game for events, festivals, and fairs. A participant would pay me $10 to hang from my rotating pull-up bar. If the participant was able to hang on for 100 seconds, I would pay him or her $100 cash. The challenge became extremely popular and went viral through a YouTube video (over 26M views) where I’m seen challenging former American Ninja Warrior, Lucas Gomes, to take the hang challenge. Here is a link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOV-c0F9400&t=89s&ab_channel=LucasGomes

I took the hang challenge to events in Chicago, Atlanta, Las Vegas, and other large cities across the U.S. On average, I was able to generate around $565 per day in revenue (events were typically 3-day weekends from March to October). Offering the hang challenge is how I generated revenue until the end of 2019.

The Covid-19 pandemic caused me to change the business model since many events were being cancelled. Wondering how I could continue to generate revenue during the pandemic, I remembered that at every event Hang 2 Win participated in, I received inquiries about how one could start their own hang challenge business. A demand for rotating pull-up bars, such as mine, was growing fast but there were no suppliers across the internet. So, I decided to fulfil that need.

In January of 2020, I sold the first rotating pull-up bar to a client who became a repeat customer. As of today, my repeat customer rate is 19%. I sell 1-2 units per month on average. Currently, each unit sells for $1,850 with a profit margin of 61% ($1,129.00 [give or take a few dollars depending on the shipping destination of the customer]). The business has low overhead with one employee (me), and the number of hours per week averages to 1.5; very minimal effort to profit around $1,129 per month.

As an e-Commerce business, where are your products made?

Made in the USA.

How have you marketed the product and where are your customers originating from?

Honestly, little marketing effort has been done, meaning this business has SO much potential for growth. Most customers find my website by searching relative keywords on Google. The initial interest derives from either seeing the hang challenge at an event or mall where another business is providing that challenge, or they saw how popular the Hang Challenge is on YouTube and thought, “Hey, this is an excellent money-making side hustle I could do!” and then they find my site through a quick Google search. My site is easy to find since there aren’t any other competitors in the niche selling a rotating pull-up bar.

Is the asset on your listing owner-operated, how much time does it take to run the business, who else is needed on the team, and what is automated?

This business is owner-operated and does not take much time to run. On average it takes me about one and a half hours per week. There is one task that is outsourced. I work with a metalworker who modifies that pull up bar that I acquire from a USA based supplier. It takes the metalworker 1-3 days to finish the job. I then repackage the equipment and ship it to the customer.

What does someone need to do to continue operating the business in its current form?

The new owner will either need to find a metalworker in their local area that can modify the pull-up bar, so that it rotates, or perform the modifications him or herself. The flat fee my metalworker charges me per bar is less than 3% of what I charge my customer, so it’s really worth outsourcing this part to the metalworker instead of doing it myself. This keeps the time I put into it at a minimum.

Can you list a few opportunities for a potential new owner to continue growing the business?

There are many ways this business can grow and increase its sales. Some ideas include:

• Google ads (no campaigns currently running)
• Social media marketing
• Cross-promotion and sales by attending events, offering the hang challenge and selling units to interested buyers
• Offering bonus items in addition to the pull-up bar unit (many customers would like to have timers and signage as well)
• Offering discounts and sales to increase volume (current profit margin is a whopping 61%)

What has been the evolution of this asset since its launch?

I went from providing the hang challenge at events to becoming pretty much the only supplier of rotating pull-up bars on the internet. When people see the hang challenge at events or the mall (usually run by someone who bought a bar from me) they see how much cash it generates and decides to start the same side hustle in their area. They need a rotating pull-up bar to start but will need to create their own (difficult) or buy one ready to use (easy). Plus, the price they pay for my bar is recuperated quickly by one or two events.

How does this business make money? What are the current revenue streams?

The former revenue stream was from just providing the hang challenge at festivals and other events. Now, the business generates revenue by selling rotating pull up bars to individuals who want to take the hang challenge to their local events or mall as a side hustle. The new owner of Hang 2 Win could continue selling rotating bars, as well as take the business to events, offer the hang challenge, AND acquire potential clients at those events who will want to buy a rotating pull-up bar through the website.

What marketing channels are most profitable for the business?

Google SEO. All customers have come through organic searches so far, zero ads paid.

How does the business currently acquire customers and what is your breakdown for marketing costs?

As mentioned, through Google search. All customers have come through organic searches so far, zero ads paid. This means the new owner can untap so much growth with a few ads on Google and social media.

How big is your current team? How many people does it take to run this business?

Two people. I, the owner, answer emails from interested buyers, send them the invoice, purchase the pull-up bar from the supplier, then take the bar to a metalworker. The metalworker modifies the unit. Afterwards, I repackage it and ship it to the customer.

What’s the reason for selling your business on Flippa?

The decision to sell Hang 2 Win came from having other obligations with other businesses that I own and operate, and I just do not have the time to expand on this business.

VIEW THE LISTING ON FLIPPA

Tell us a little about yourself.
