Tell us a little about yourself. What’s your background? How did you start with this project?

A 3-time college dropout & self-taught entrepreneur. My background in hand-drawn & digital art enabled me to create visually appealing stores that aim for long-term brand recognition. Put simply: MoonLiit is one of many stores that came from an idea, which eventually turned into a profitable business with very little time and resources. It’s quite clear from both the sales and products: only a fraction of its potential has been unlocked. My constant need to create and improve eventually leads me to create even more. I am currently focused on an Amazon FBA partnership, selling in the Arts & Crafts category. This, along with other responsibilities, has left me with very little time for side projects. I regret not being able to provide more time and resources for MoonLiit.  Even so, with my advertisements running on a low budget for months at a time, MoonLiit continues to deliver consistent revenue throughout all of the turbulence of 2020 with only 1 product!  I am excited to find someone who is passionate about jewelry/space and at the same time, give this little project of mine the tender love and care it deserves. 

How much time is needed to run this business successfully? What is automated?

A minimum of 10-15 hours/week should be allocated to MoonLiit. This time should be dedicated to the following things, starting with the most important:

-Responding to customer emails + live chat if outsourcing or aided by a team.

-Ordering + shipping products to customers (semi-automated)

-Adding new products and collections.

-Set up retargeting campaigns + email marketing to promote new products.

– Improve SEO to generate more authority and receive organic sales.

Ordering products is through Aliexpress in conjunction with the Oberlo chrome extension. Ordering 10,20,30+ orders at a time takes only a few clicks. The software will automatically place the orders for you which gives you more time to focus on the other aspects of MoonLiit.  But of course, these are just the basics.

Your revenue has been going up and down over the past 12 months, is this simply based on the ads that you are running or something else?

When MoonLiit first launched, a higher budget was used, and therefore produced better results compared to the months that followed (all of 2020). In the first 1-and-a-half months of launch, MoonLiit produced  $8,661 in revenue, 95% of which was with only 1 product. For the next few months, no  advertising was used. Based on that successful month, it was evaluated by Shopify at $12,830 based on the month of launch. The e-COM Biz Association measured MoonLiit’s value (potential based) at $50,000.  It was put up for an auction during this time, with bids exceeding $40k which unfortunately fell through. I started advertising with a low budget in March of 2020. Since then, I’ve left the ads on without hardly touching them and still made consistent revenue with only 1 product and no retargeting. Sales have remained consistent throughout all of 2020 with minimal effort and investment put in.

Can you list a few opportunities for a potential new owner to continue growing the business?

MoonLiit would benefit greatly from partnerships with space-themed instagram pages. The products MoonLiit offers are extremely unique and don’t need to be explained to make people want to buy it. Let the images do the work!

In particular I suggest the new owner to focus on targeting mothers with children and teens. The catalog has a TON of glow-in-the-dark accessories  which  kids will  thoroughly enjoy.  I personally wear the ‘Luminous Pyramid’ (which glows) everywhere and I get asked constantly where I got it!

I will be including a sub-niche to the new owner which I never got to fully test.  Product  suggestions will also be provided.
