This is a really intriguing app. While it’s only been around for 8 months, I think we can all agree that the foundational premise is solid: the world is in need of contactless pickup apps for restaurants (and beyond).

Based on the fact that most restaurants don’t have a seamless solution to both gather orders and payment along with deliver food to a driver when they show up in the parking lot, this app is market tested and ready to be taken to a mass market level. Is it the opportunity that you’ve been waiting for?

Tell us a little about yourself. What’s your background? How did you come to develop this app?

I am an architect. I am mom of 2 little girls and drive-thru app was a solution to a problem I saw all moms faced. Picking up food with kids is not only cumbersome but also time consuming. There had to be a better and easier way to pick up food without the hassle of going inside, wait in line to pay while holding on to your kids from not running all over the place. Drive-Thru app is also a great solution for elderly or handicapped customers.The app is meant to help restaurants get more repeat customers and help the customers find it easy to pick food This app can be used for any retail business even grocery stores. 

Is this app currently functional? Do you have restaurants signed up? Customers using the functionality?

Yes the app is fully functional. We have worked with 2 restaurants for last few months to make sure there aren’t any bugs. We also added more features once we went into the market. Customers love the app because they don’t have to call or be on hold to pick up food while they wait in their cars. 

You mention having done Facebook/Instagram ads as well as local media promotion. Can you share the results of the ad spend?

It wasn’t extensive so the data wouldn’t be accurate. What really works is going to restaurants in person and taking to their managers and owners. 

What sort of knowledge would be needed by the new owner to continue updating the app as it grows?

I have a whole team who will be glad to help the future owner update. That being said at this point we don’t see any urgent updates. In future they can add the feature for coupons and reward system for regular customers. 

With 3,000 downloads/month, how many daily (or weekly) active users do you have?

We had a big boost when local media posted about our app. We have since not been so active so active users have decreased. We had our restaurant partners tell their customers about our app. We gave stickers and cards to promote the Drive Thru app. This is a great tactic for a startup because the costs are lower.
