Seller's Notes

SEO Defend is an innovative SaaS solution to protect web assets from negative SEO related issues as well as Google penalties (205 registered users since June 2016).

Great brand opportunity for SEO agency with limitless annuity income potential.

This project is an awesome example of how a SaaS platform can be built on top of Wordpress.

Monetization is currently via Stripe and PayPal. Since launching the site no promotions have been done. SEO Defend is only listed as a tool on RankTank.Org and has a Wordpress plugin (100+ active users) available. When I was actively helping clients fix negative SEO issues this site generated $1000+/month.

SEO Defend also plugs in with SEMrush and we include an active SEMrush $15 API account (new accounts cost $399.95, but we're locked in at the current pricing).

What is included in the sale?

Very strong SEO Defend brand including the domains below:

The following social media channels:

What is required to keep the business operational?

This business opportunity is completely passive, but you may be required to answer emails and perform manual SEO related tasks depending on the services you wish to provide. Earning potential depends on how much manual work you are willing to do.

Why are you selling the business?

I am currently owner of RankTank.Org and have no time to manage a side SEO business that requires time and SEO related effort to consult customers and clear penalties. I also have no time to develop the system any further.

How does the business generate revenue?

The sale of SaaS subscriptions to monitor various negative SEO related flags and to alert users of potential problems. The alerts do require further development and the negative detection algorithms need to be built out further and improved. The site does however work 100% as is and keeps on growing over time.

Are there any expenses for the business? If so, what are they?

SEMrush, hosting and domain registrations. Probably an average of $300 per year.

What marketing initiatives have been used for this business?

Listing the service on RankTank.Org.

How can the future owner improve the business?

The future owner can add manual penalty removal and other SEO related services. The negative SEO detection algorithms can be further implemented and refined. Allocating a Adwords / Bing budget will greatly speed up growth.

How is your business monetized?

Please describe your business model

SEO Defend uses its own algorithms as well as external APIs (SEMrush) / Google Search Console to determine whether a website / domain is at risk of a Google penalty. Customers pay a nominal fee monthly ($3.95 to $29.95) to receive alerts of negative SEO activity or damaging SEO being done to their web assets.

Are you the original owner of the business?

Which platform does the website use?

Where is the site hosted and will this need to change after purchase?

The site is hosted on our own servers and will be moved to any WordPress compatible hosting provider free of charge.

Why are you selling the business?

I own a few other SaaS businesses, most notably RankTank.Org, which is an extremely popular SEO tool website (which also lists SEO Defend). This is currently taking up all of my time.

Can the website’s revenue be accurately tracked back to the website?

Yes, revenue can be accurately tracked back to the business.

Is the website’s revenue kept separate from other business and personal accounts?

Yes, completely separate.

If necessary, do you have tax returns available to support your revenue claims?

Yes, this proof can be provided to serious buyers and/or Flippa Marketplace Integrity.

Are you willing to provide live revenue verification?

Yes, upon request from serious buyers and/or Flippa marketplace integrity.

What are the main expenses of the business?

The main expenses to run SEO Defend is hosting and domain registration. This is approximately $15/month. The service also makes use of the SEMrush API (currently locked in at $15/month, since we took advantage of their special). The API account will be provided with the site as a new API account costs $399.95/month.

Hi there, fellow SEO, SaaS owner, and fan of RankTank here. Curious your description makes this sound more like a service than a SaaS. Would you mind dming a little more about how the tool / service works?

@joeyoungblood greetings. There is both a service and SaaS component. The SaaS component uses algorithms and APIs like SEMrush to determine when something may be going south with regards to SEO (content, links, social - to be implemented, algorithmic - work in progress with Google webmaster and search consolde). The SaaS component may be run as a passive income stream with the service component adding ad-hoc income (I did this initially and made $1-2k monthly quite easily). The Wordpress module also uses the basic API to get users from their Wordpress dashboards.

@jpollar I cannot give too much detail openly before the sale, but we use the SEMrush analytics API with primarily backlink information and root domain metrics.
