Up for sale is  This is a turnkey pet supply eCommerce website that is currently pre-loaded with over 15,000 SKUs.

I owned a large online pet supply eCommerce company and a couple years ago it was acquired by another company.  I have a bunch of pet supply domains we were going to develop into new stores at one point, but never did since we got out of the business.  I have decided to sell these domains as turnkey stores along with our great vendor relations and lend my experience to give someone the opportunity to start a legitimate ecommerce business.  The pet market is growing by leaps and bounds online!

The site is currently using the hosted shopping cart software.  As someone that has used or tested a large majority of the shopping cart platforms out there I highly recommend using these guys.  The cost is only $49.97 a month for unlimited products and great tech support.  Not to mention the cart has every feature imaginable.  The site has a custom designed logo, but we just have a template design on the site right now, so the buyer can customize the site how they want.  You can have a nice custom design done for $400 through the design company uses for their clients if you want; otherwise they have hundreds of free template that are highly customizable.  As mentioned the store is populated with 15,000 pet supplies.  This originally took us a very long time because we had to edit each products title and descriptions to make them more eCommerce friendly.  Please factor this in if you are interested in purchasing this.  It took me nearly a month full time to get this product database to where it is, but still has room for improvement. You would have to do this yourself otherwise as the datafeed from the distributor is not ecommerce friendly at all. We also had the tech guys at develop us an inventory module that updates the inventory from the warehouse to our sites.  We paid a little over $1,000 to have this developed and we will make sure the module is integrated into the site so you don’t need to develop this and worry about out of stock items selling, etc. (however please note that we still own this module and can use it on other stores we may launch in the future)

What comes with the sale?

Domain: (roughly 2.5 years old)

Product Database:  The edited and optimized product database in CSV format and preloaded into the store.

Inventory Module:  Use of the inventory module we developed. 

Logo:  This is a custom logo designed for this site. 

Vendor Relationship:  This is where the value of this sale comes from.  We have had a great relationship with one of the largest pet supply distributors in the country that ships our orders direct to customer.  This is not some small “drop shipper” that thousands of ecommerce sites online use.  They are the real deal.  You will be paying below dealer wholesale prices on products through them and they have a very efficient direct-to-consumer program set up. 

You will need decent credit to get an account with them though.  Otherwise you can have someone cosign that has good credit also. This is not the type of company that allows you to put each order on a credit card.  You need to have credit terms with them and they invoice you once a month for the inventory you buy.  This shows how big and legit they are.  


The distributor has been in business for many, many years and currently stock around 30,000 SKUs including pet supplies, equine, farm, wild bird, pond, etc. products.  (Room for growth past the pet segment)  Many big companies use them including

What is "cost is only $49.97 a month" -- for?

The $49.97 a month is for the hosted shopping cart the site runs on. I am sure a lot of people will say that you could just use open source software and host it yourself for cheaper, but you need to understand for the $50 a month you are getting a lot. (How much is your time worth?) For $50 a month you don’t have to worry about upgrades, new features, etc. of a shopping cart as its automatic, don’t need to worry about hosting and you also have a smart tech support team at your call whenever you need help. It is well worth the cost, trust me. Anymore questions, just ask!

Does your inventory tool automate price changes?
When you say that you retain ownership of the inventory tool, does the new owner get unlimited use as long as they own the site?
Do you have future plans to compete with this site?

The inventory module currently can automate the price changes but only update the "retail price" if that changed, which is in the data feed. It would be very easy and cheap (if not free) for the tech people at to build in that feature to update prices via a certain mark up from wholesale.
The module was built for us originally, but can only be used with the ecommerce platform. We have no short term plans on using the module but i just wanted to make sure you knew that if we decide to launch a new store in the future we will use it. We wanted to be as transparent as possible with the auction. Technically you would OWN the module on your store because there is a separate one for each merchant ID (store). So you could have it change the way it works, etc. if you wanted to.
As of now we have no future plans to compete with the site. We were in the ecommerce pet supplies market for years and would like to get into something new, but we will not sign a non compete with a small sale like this. Our non compete is up with our original "large" sale of our pet supply company also so you know. Again, just being as transparent as possible :)
There is no reserve on this auction. $500 will take it.

As you stated the value of this site lies with your vendor relationship. Can you provide some more details on your relationship? What kind of dropshipping fees apply? What kind of profit are you expecting on say the sale of a $20 item? Seems hard to make money selling such low priced products on a drop shipping model.

@webmaster 5 -- are you talking about the hosted ecommerce platform or the distributor? I would not worry about either going out of businesses. The hosted ecommerce platform has been around for a long time and have thousands of customers and the distributor is one of the largest in the country and have been in business for a very long time (50+ years)

@aa411853 -- When we used them in the past there was no drop ship fees. You just pay actual UPS rates when shipping. They have recently changed there shipping policy so that there drop ship clients know exactly what they will be paying ahead of time: 1lb is $X amount, 2lb is $x amount, etc. They also now have a fee for orders under $16. I think it is $2? You also have the ability to still use your own UPS account and get charged actual shipping rates.
As for pricing: They are the most competitive prices we have found. They automatically give all drop ship clients a discount from wholesale, depending on vendor it is usually around 10%. You also will get more discounts when volume of orders pick up. We had 20-25% discount from wholesale when we did business with them. In other words, they are a good partner for long term success in the ecommerce business.
The price on the site right now are set at MRSP and most markups are 75%-100%, so you can get an idea of wholesale prices.
I agree with you on the fact that so many pet supply products are low priced items, but keep in mind people buy a lot at one time. Our average order was $75+ when we were in business.
