The app aims to feature universal and cutting-edge leadership training/courses, insights and information from featured experts, coaches and publishers globally.

The goal of the app was to expand the users capacity to perform at their highest level, facilitate the execution of their company’s strategy, increase their influence and help them grow the capabilities of others through consuming/purchasing in-app courses, live training and other in-app resources.

TARGET AUDIENCE

The app has attracted leaders of all kinds, from startup entrepreneurs, to team managers and C-Level executives of large multi-nationals. We have attached an excel spreadsheet of all the Job Titles of all subscribers that we currently have. Hopefully this will give you an idea of the audience demographic.

 

HISTORY

We launched the app back in March of 2012 and have since established high App Store and Google Play Store rankings for keywords such as Leadership, Leadership Development, Leadership Training, etc.

As a result, we’ve amassed a significant number of targeted downloads, app reviews, back links and email subscribers.

The app and audience is well established and is certainly well positioned for a new owner to run with and realise it’s potential.

 

FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES

There are a number of opportunities to monetise the app from this point onward. These would include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide in-app Courses for purchase on all the topics listed under the ‘News’ tab of the app.
  • Provide in-app Resources for purchase, including Books, E-Books and Audio Books.
  • Promote in-app Live Events, Webinars or Online Training.
  • Revenue share with other leadership trainers, coaches and publishers of leadership content by selling and promoting their content/courses/training via the app.
  • If you are a Coach or Leadership Training Organisation, the app would make a great platform to attract clients and position your organisation or business as a leader in this space.
  • And of course, you could deploy native advertising or traditional banner advertising via the content feeds and monetise that way.

There are many ways to monetise and leverage this established, high-value audience.

 

REASON FOR SALE 

As much as we would like to keep the app and develop it to realise it's potential, we've reluctantly decided to hand it over to a new owner as we simply haven't been able to properly devote our time to it. We manage several other businesses, including http://www.AppMedia.com.au/ , a mobile app marketing agency, which keeps us much too busy at present. We prefer to see the app go to company or entrepreneur who can give it the attention it deserves.

 

DEVELOPMENT

The app was originally developed on Como.com, but we have since moved it to Shoutem.com as Shoutem offered many additional capabilities that suited our needs.

This means, there is a CMS behind the app where all app content is currently managed, including user management, push notifications and other marketing tools.

Shoutem also makes it easy to maintain, host and update the app at anytime. Plus, they allow for custom CSS and have recently deployed capabilities to add your own custom extensions/plugins/modules which allow for the development of just about anything you wish to build on top of the existing platform.

You can also access their API to sync up with any existing database, app or website if needed.

Of course, if you want complete control over the app code, you could take it off Shoutem and update the app with your own code while seamlessly maintaining all users. Users would then simply “update” their app to get the new version.

OPERATIONS

As everything is currently hosted/managed on Shoutem, there is no need to worry about coding or fixing bugs at present, or making security or feature updates, etc. as Shoutem handles all of this behind the scense. This is the reason for the $49/monthly fee to manage the app. It’s the only cost of running the app at present. Shoutem also has great customer support and we highly recommend them. (we’ve used a lot of app builders over the years and Shoutem have been one of our favourites).

 

MARKETING

With regards to Marketing, we are App Marketing experts ourselves (as per our small agency here http://www.AppMedia.com.au/)and have been able to successfully rank the app for many ‘Leadership’ related keywords in most app stores around the world and we did this entirely through App Store Optimisation alone. This means, all installs acquired have been 100% organic which also means the app will continue to attract a consistent flow of users/downloads at no cost or need for advertising.

The app often has at least 1 or 2 very sharp spikes in downloads each year (as shown in the screenshot stats attached), but then settles down to a consistent 100 daily or so downloads (on average) per day. Over the past 5 years or so, the average daily installs were 106.9 downloads per day and the average monthly installs were 3207 per month.

Note, we’ve been migrating users from the old Como hosted Android app here to the new Shoutem hosted Android app here:

Unfortunately, como didn’t allow for the release of their Keystore File to allow us to make a simple “update” of the Android app. So, to get around this, we published a new app to the Play store about 7 months ago which is hosted by Shoutem and then put a notice on the old Como app for users to update to the new App - hence the reason you see two “Leadership Apps” inside the Google Play Store at present. Both apps will be transfered to the new owner.

However, with regards to iOS, we had no such issue and the app listing you see inside the iTunes App Store is the original listing which was published in 2012 using the Como app but has since been updated with the new Shoutem hosted app that you see now.

All Branding Assets:

Everything you see on the app was custom designed, including the App Icon, In-App Icons, Launch Screen, Buttons, etc. All files will be transferred in editable .ai format.

We also purchased licenses to a few stock images for the app branding which will be transferred to the new owner as well.

We will provide up to a full 1 month support to help ensure a smooth handover and help you get familiar with the backend/CMS and anything else that you may require.

We can of course offer ongoing support after the free 1 month period at a small fee as needed.

How active are the users who've installed the app? How frequently are they using it?

Hi @SteinMD, thanks for your question. We don’t have stats for the Como.com app other than those provided by Google Play which aren’t very helpful in this regard.

We do however have Google Analytics installed on the new Shoutem app and can show stats for the last 6 months of the new Shoutem hosted app (which is from the date we updated to the new Shoutem platform).

I have attached a screenshot (in the Attachments) of the Screens Per Session trend which is starting to pickup since we made a few changes to the app recently (as shown in the trend line attached).

User engagement could be significantly improved with some simple user re-engagement activities such as sending out Push Notifications and/or Email Notifications when new content, courses, events or in-app resources are released.

We simply haven’t done any user re-engagement to-date for reasons mentioned above, but this would certainly increase activity. Even just the act of publishing more content will do so as well.

The screenshot attached also shows the number of active users on the new app for just the last 6 months and the number of sessions and page views, avg session duration, etc.

Hopefully this gives you a better idea. But once again, note that these aren’t all the stats and there are a significant number of active users on the old Como app (over 23,922 active devices) who are yet to update and migrated across to the new app.

Hello, I see that there are no reviews on file when downloading through Applestore. Any idea of why this is so?

Hi @investorFLI, good question. The best answer I can give you is we simply haven’t actively encouraged users to leave reviews, plus we often find iOS users (and particularly CEOs, managing directors, leaders etc who are time poor and don’t have time to leave reviews) typically aren’t as inclined to leave reviews on apps as much as Android users are.

The Android app on the other hand has amassed quite a number of reviews 100% organically (i.e. with zero solicitation on our behalf). We would however recommend encouraging users to leave reviews on the iOS app at some point, which could quite easily be done with a little encouragement.
