Seller's Notes

Please describe your business model in 1 to 5 sentences

We record gameplay of mobile games such as Candy Crush. We then make a video of the gameplay and upload this to YouTube and our own website.

The second part of the business is to write tips / a walkthrough for every video we create.

Are you the original owner of the business?

Yes I am.

Where is the site hosted and will this need to change after purchase?

The site is hosted with HostDime and unfortunately this has to change after purchase. Though there is no rush and I'll help where possible.

Why are you selling the business?

I've been making and selling websites for nearly 10 years and it's getting a bit tiring.

So I want to sell the website and invest some of that money in a physical business rather than a online one.

Can the website’s revenue be accurately tracked back to the website, i.e. do payment descriptions/details include the website’s name or reference to the website’s products?

Yes it can be accurately tracked back to the website. I can walk the new owner through this process.

Is the website’s revenue kept separate from other business and personal accounts?

No, but mostly separate.

If necessary, do you have tax returns available to support your revenue claims?

Unfortunately it isn't. I do not have tax returns available since this is a personal "hobby" rather than a business.

Are you willing to provide live revenue verification?

Yes, upon request from serious buyers and/or Flippa marketplace integrity.

What are the main expenses of the business? Please list any recurring expenses that account for more than 1% of overall revenue.

Currently there are two main expenses for the website.

1. Hosting ($115 per month)
2. JW Player License ($175 per month, required to show advertising alongside our videos on our own website). New owner could change the software and reduce the monthly cost, but be aware that changing 1000's is video is a very time consuming task.

Please list all domain names you are including in the sale.

http://apptipper.com/

Are you including any social media accounts in the sale?

Yes

Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/AppTipper/ 187 Likes
YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/MrAppTipper 2648 Subscribers
Twitter Account: https://twitter.com/apptipper 13 Followers

Tumblr: http://apptipper.tumblr.com/

Are there any email lists included in the sale?

No.

Is there any intellectual property included in the sale (patents, trademarks, etc.)?

No.

Are you including other assets in the sale that you think we should know about?

No.

Are you selling the assets of the business (asset sale) or the company (stock sale)?

Not sure.

What are the primary traffic sources of the site?

Direct (9.5%) and Organic (89%)

Do you use, or have you experimented with, social media marketing?

No.

Have you done any Search Engine Optimization?

Yes, I have done minimal SEO.

Please provide a brief overview of the SEO you have performed on this site.

The only SEO I have done for this site is install a SEO plugin (Yoast SEO) and create a few social media accounts which automatically share our latest posts.

Do you or have you ever purchased traffic?

No, I have never purchased traffic.

Has the site ever received any search engine penalties (manual or algorithmic)?

No, to my knowledge my site has never received any search engine penalties.

Do you use, or have you experimented with direct / display advertising?

No, I have not.

Have you experimented with any other sales / marketing initiatives?

No, I have not.

Do you have employees or contracts with freelancers?

No.

How is the content of your website produced? Provide a step-by-step breakdown.

First you create a Facebook account on your PC (this only works on a desktop). This will be the account you will be playing games with.

Next you pick a game and start playing it. Every time you start a new level you record your gameplay using screen capture software. In my case that would be Camtasia.

When you beat a level you save your recording and do the necessary editing. In my case this would be blurring out the name of the player towards the end of the video and cut any bits in which there is no action.

After you're done editing the video you render it twice. First you render a version which you will be uploading to YouTube. Then you render a version which is smaller in size than the YouTube one and upload it to your host. (You don't have to make a smaller video if bandwidth and harddisk size isn't an issue with your host. In this case you can use the same video for YouTube and the site)

With the videos done it's time for the writing part. You can either write detailed tips for each level you beat. Or you can use general tips which are specific to a game rather than a single level. In the post you write you include the smaller sized video you uploaded to your sever.

Please provide a breakdown of the operations of your business. i.e. what are the jobs that require manpower to run your business?

Task 1: Video Creation
Description: Beating specific levels and creating videos of each level
Who performs this task: The owner (can be outsourced)
Hours per week: 12 hours per game (can be outsourced or reduced to 0 hours. I'll tell the new owner more about this)

Task 2: Content Creation
Description: Writing tips for each level
Who performs this task: Owner
Hours per week: 3 hours per game (can be reduced to ~1 hour. I'll tell the new owner more about this)

Does the owner need specific skillsets in order to successfully operate the site?

Some. If the owner decides to run the business on his / her own he / she needs to know his / her way around WordPress a bit. He / She also needs to know his / her way around screen capture software a little.

Do you and/or any employees or freelancers provide customer support?

Not really customer support, but it's answering questions that are asked in the comment section. There are only a couple comments left per day and if needed these can be ignored and answered within a minute or two.

Please identify and briefly describe your main competitors.

wikia.com
candycrushsagaallhelp.blogspot.com
candycrushmom.com

All three sites do pretty much the same as we do on our site.

What makes your website better than its competition?

Although our off-site SEO isn't great, our on-site SEO is excellent. We've been at it since 2014 which means our site has aged a little. Combined with the great on-page SEO it results in new posts ranking at or near the top of Google's search results and staying there for a long time.

When the new owner decides to add newly released games to the website (which he / she should do to increase pageviews and revenue), he / she can expect to rank at the top of the search results.

Which ad networks does the website utilize?

AdSense and MGID

Are all ad networks transferable to the new owner?

No. Both the AdSense and MGID account aren't transferable since they're being used for other smaller sites.

However, I can share the exact settings I'm using with the new owner.

Does your website utilize direct advertising?

No.

Are you willing to sign a 3-year non-compete contract in the industry that the website operates in?

This should be answered as partially no. I won't be competing against the new owner when it comes to games that are already on the website.

The same cannot be said to games aren't on the website. So I won't be a direct competitor.

Will you provide 1-3 months of post-sale support & training, in order to ensure that the buyer is able to fully take over the business and its operations?

Yes.

What are the primary growth opportunities for the business going forward?

I've singled out 6 opportunities I think the new owner can benefit from to grow the amount of visitors to the website and to increase the revenue.

Since this can help competitors I prefer not to share them publicly. Potential buyers can contact me to find out more about these 6 opportunities.

Are there any geographical limitations to the potential buyer of the business?

No.

If you've got any questions (other than the reserve price) please don't hesitate to comment below or send me a message. I'll try to answer as best as I can.

Note: Flippa only shows the verified AdSense from one account. Since AdSense for Video is located on a different account it's not shown by Flippa's verified AdSense. The AdSense for Video income will be shown to serious buyers if asked for.

Are you the one who creates all the videos and written content? If not, is that person interested in continuing with the business?

@twigman1200 I'm the one creating all the content.

Creating the written content is rather easy. Creating the videos can be a harder.

Yeah, I am a little concerned about the videos.

Nice site though. I'll be keeping an eye on it.

The reason for decline in traffic

@Suryasun The average search ranking has been steady for nearly two years.

My best guess would be the loss of interest in the games we cover on the website. Candy Crush Saga was released in 2012, so I can understand why people lose interest in the game (or any other game for that matter).

@Leo1977 That's because the visitors coming to the site are laser focused. They come for one specific level and then go about their business. It's no use browsing around for other levels when they haven't reached those levels yet.

The average time on a page is a bit over 4 minutes. Perhaps the new owner can monetize those minutes better than I could.

Can you please clarify how many videos are right now on the website? You said 1000'ish but I want to make sure. If that's the case, it would seem the new owner has to publish roughly the same number of videos every year to keep the traffic numbers up as it seems that the older the game is, the least traffic it's attracting.

My concern is the price for producing this number of videos. If I have to produce 100 videos/month and I have to outsource this (I understand in your case it was you who played the games and did the videos, however, for me personally that's out of the discussion), the cost may turn out quite high. If you have any advice for this, please let me know (via PM).

Thanks
Peter

@Go.Script Private message send.

For anyone else wondering about the amount of videos on the site, it's 4124 self-hosted videos and about 4400 embedded YouTube videos.
