100%. I have not purchased any bot/spoof traffic.

Why Are You Selling For $1 Reserve?

I want the marketplace to decide how much this site is worth! Put in a bid (or ten!) and you might get lucky and score a great site for a great price :)

I have sold sites with $1 reserve in the past, and believe it is the best way to sell a site transparently and fairly.

I have also added a BIN for anyone who would like to close out the listing without bidding. If you want to make me a BIN offer, please send a personal message to discuss further.

How Does British Legends "Work"?

Here is the basic system for how I run the site:

  1. I have created a number of Facebook pages based around hugely popular, evergreen British TV shows (e.g. Only Fools & Horses and Dad's Army).
  2. I have grown these pages through a combination of Facebook ads, great content, cross-promotion, FB group posting, and manually inviting audience.
  3. 80% of the content on these pages is non-promotional, e.g. memes or images of the show. I usually schedule these with FPTraffic so it's quite a "hands-off" process.
  4. I create relevant content on Britishlegends.net in the form of blog posts - usually news articles about cast members (e.g. "David Jason from Only Fools & Horses receives lifetime acting award") list-based articles, e.g. "funniest moments" or "trivia lists", polls/quizzes, and embedded video clips.
  5. I post links to these content pieces on the relevant Facebook pages, driving clicks from the audiences - as well as likes and shares which result in additional exposure and traffic.
  6. I earn from Adsense ads, Amazon Associates UK products, and more recently Content.Ad native ads that are on the site (I also sometimes promote Amazon products directly from the Facebook page).

This is the basic strategy/gameplan. It's classic "viral site" but instead of going broad like ViralNova, Lad Bible or Buzzfeed, I have taken a more niche route.

Let me know if you need more clarification on this.

Why Did You Pick This Niche?

I've always loved classic British comedy. Furthermore, I believe that the unique demographic nature of this audience (older, more affluent, living in UK and other English-speaking Western countries) presents excellent opportunities for demographically-targeted offers and monetization.

What Facebook Pages Are Included?

  • Del Boy Trotter - Fan page for Only Fools & Horses. ~55k audience
  • Dad's Army Fans - Fan page for Dad's Army. ~44k audience
  • Unofficial Fawlty Towers - Fan page for Fawlty Towers. ~3k audience.
  • Blackadder Fans - Fan page for Blackadder. ~1.5k audience.
  • Unofficial Minder - Fan page for Minder. ~1k audience.

I will add additional details on this soon.

All audience sizes as of 30th March 2017.

Why You Should Buy This Site:

  • Great traffic growth since launch in October 2016 - March 17 will close out with ~20k uniques.
  • Ownership of a number of popular Facebook pages, with loyal audiences and good engagement (especially for their size).
  • Over 120 existing articles/content pieces, meaning you have lots to link to already to drive traffic back to the site and earn.
  • Proven, existing earnings into the hundreds of dollars.
  • Unique demographic - older, more affluent, UK-based audience. Ideal for targeting CPA offers, and getting higher CTRs and CPCs from Adsense as they are less likely to use ad blockers (and less jaded to online ads than younger audience).
  • I have spent around $500 building initial Facebook audiences. With engaging content and savvy cross-promotion, you should now be able to grow without spending on Facebook Ads. OR re-invest earnings and grow faster.

Most importantly, there is HUGE interest in classic British comedy. For example, one of the biggest unofficial Only Fools & Horses fan pages (which deploys a similar strategy to British Legends, but on a larger scale) has almost 700,000 likes. The owner of this page has many other pages with 6 figure audiences, and according to Similar Web receives 500k + visits per month. PM me for details as I don't want to publicly reveal their site without their permission.

I genuinely believe that this site could become a full-time living for the right person with the right skill set to really make it grow!

What Costs Are Involved In Running The Site?

  • Hosting - I am on a reseller plan ("reselling" to myself) but you could probably host this site for around $10-15 per month. I would recommend getting the fastest hosting possible/you can afford. Page load speeds are critical for viral sites.
  • Domain name - $15 per year.
  • FPTraffic - $10 USD per month for unlimited Facebook accts. I use this tool to manage all Facebook post scheduling.
  • Optional: Facebook Ads for either boosting successful posts to increase reach and likes, or running page like ads campaigns.

What Is Included For The Successful Buyer?

  • Full ownership of British Legends (britishlegends.net)
  • Full ownership of all current Facebook pages that feed into the site (see below for list)
  • Full ownership of existing newsletter list - ~1000 emails
  • Export of all image content I have saved
  • Strategy Playbook to help you understand the niche and grow the site.
  • If site sells for more than $3000 USD, then I will include up to 1hr Skype session for the successful buyer to help coach them on the site (if wanted).
  • Full support and assistance in transferring the site, and email support in terms of content/marketing questions for up to 1 month after sale.

Do You Need To Know & Love British Comedy To Buy This Site And Be Successful With It?

No, I do not believe so.

I have a really simple formula/strategy that anyone can use to continue to grow and earn from this site. All content can be outsourced for low cost, and all the hard work is done already.

I will also send through a full strategy "playbook" to the successful bidder, outlining the different pages that form part of the British Legends network, how the audiences differ, what content they like etc.  This will also contain a list of growth opportunities in terms of new pages you could create.

That being said, if you are knowledgeable on British comedy, then this would be an obvious advantage.

How Much Effort Required?

I spend about 30 minutes' "hard work" per week on the site, including managing scheduled social media content, managing and uploading outsourced articles, writing video clip lead-ins etc.

I also spend about another 10 minutes per day on checking Instagram, Facebook and Google for great images or news content to post. This is usually done on my phone while on break at work! I also use this time to invite people who have liked content from my pages to like the page itself.

Monetization Strategy

The site is currently monetized with:

  • Adsense
  • Content.ad native ads (since late March 2017)
  • Amazon Associates UK

Adsense is the primary income generator for this site. However, Content.ad is proving promising with CPM currently around $1.70 - I think it's a good way of adding a little bit of extra revenue to the site.

There is lots of opportunity with Amazon as well. NB this site uses Amazon UK Associates program NOT the USA one.

How To Grow Earnings:

  • Grow traffic by increasing existing page size.
  • Add additional Facebook pages and social accounts for other popular shows, movies etc - expanding scope of the site.
  • Test ad optimization, including theme choice, ad layout, content pagination etc.
  • Add additional ad units e.g. popunders or extra native units.
  • Promote more Amazon affiliate products.
  • Add CPA offers.

Reason For Sale

My brother and I have recently started a project using the same overall strategy (building a social audience + relevant blog content to drive traffic).

I work full-time, so don't have the time to do both projects. I am therefore selling British Legends so that someone can continue my work, and continue to grow traffic and earnings!

Other Info

  • I will continue to manage and run the site until successful sale completion. All earnings until this point belong to Ace Digital Marketing (the business of mine which owns the site).

Non-Compete

I will sign an undertaking not to create any website in a directly competing niche (British comedy series/movies) after successful sale of the site.

"managing and uploading outsourced articles"
In general how many articles do you outsource per month?
What is the cost per article?
Do you have a regular contractor you use and will you share contact info?

@voxx1 Up to about 2 months ago I was outsourcing 1-2 short articles per week with a writer who I paid 50 cents per 100 words (the work was largely re-writing news articles or re-purposing existing trivia/list content). So the cost was minimal ... no more than $20-30 per month.

At the moment I just write everything myself as that writer has changed occupation.

Any outsourcer who can rewrite accurately and with a bit of initiative would be suitable for this site.

Does that help?
