What Is Seekyt.com?
Seekyt.com is one of the top revenue sharing sites in the world, and has become a recognized brand amongst online writers. According to Alexa.com, Seekyt is one of the top 50,000 sites in the world - ranked 46,610 at the time of writing. Amongst revenue-sharing sites, Seekyt is the only site streamlined enough that it only requires one person to operate it; nevertheless, you will have the ability to easily promote members of the site as "moderators" who could potentially do all the work for you.
Authors sign up and submit articles on Seekyt in exchange for a share of the advertising revenue on their articles. Seekyt has the most unique revenue sharing program of any writing site, in that there are milestones and bonuses built into my sharing algorithm that give Seekyt's writers incentive to publish content and interact with one another. Some of the most active members have submitted several hundred articles each over the last few years.
How Does Seekyt Earn Money?
Seekyt.com is automatically monetized with Google AdSense, which makes up the majority of the earnings. We also offer Chitika ads for authors who cannot get an AdSense account. Seekyt also attracts independent advertisers on a regular basis, with whom I work on an individual basis to establish an advertising price. Our writers can also monetize their own articles using VigLink - a commission-based earnings program which automatically monetizes links from Amazon, Ebay, and many thousands of other sites. Whenever a reader clicks on a monetized VigLink and purchases an item from the retailer, the author of the article (or Seekyt, depending on the revenue sharing algorithm) will earn a commission. Finally, Seekyt also earns some money through Content.ad, which displays "related" content on our articles.
On average, Seekyt's earnings are
- $800-1,000 per month from AdSense, with higher earnings during the holiday shopping season
- $100-200 per month from VigLink
- $75-100 per month from Content.ad
- We also earn several hundred dollars throughout the year from independent ad sales.
Across the year, the average monthly earnings are slightly more than $1,200, with some months being slightly more lucrative than others (e.g., during the Christmas season our earnings are higher than the rest of the year due to the nature of online shopping and ad prices during this season). Based on current projections, Seekyt.com earns roughly $3,000 per month, but around $1,800 of those earnings are split amongst the authors, per our revenue sharing program. The only monthly expenses are currently the hosting expense (plus the annual domain renewal fee). It currently costs me $46 per month to host this site with more than enough resources. All of the revenue sharing takes place automatically, and payments are processed by the advertisers.
Social Media Accounts
Seekyt has a Facebook and Twitter account which I only use to automatically promote "Featured" content from an RSS feed. The Twitter account has 1,700+ followers, and the Facebook account has 2,200+ followers, but we only have a limited reach from these accounts because I do not use them to their fullest potential. On the other hand, we have a Pinterest account which I do use to manually promote images from articles on our site. I am a member of over 200+ group boards on Pinterest and we receive hundreds of pageviews per month from this account. I only use Pinterest a few times per month, and could establish a much larger reach from this resource if I spent more time with it.
A Contingency Bonus
Seekyt also has a sister site called TopicSpotter.com, which is a backup domain held in case Seekyt were ever banned by AdSense. Although we do not have any problems with our AdSense account at Seekyt, I will also hand over control of this domain to the winner of the auction. TopicSpotter receives over 2,000 visits per month and earns up to $75-100 per month. I spend less than five minutes per month managing this site, which is mostly dead and only held as a contingency. The technology used for this site is identical to Seekyt, although the look and feel of the two sites, and the revenue sharing schemes, are unique.
What About Customizing Seekyt?
Seekyt.com is built with a simple-to-use CMS called Hotaru CMS. The site mainly uses plain HTML/CSS and an easy-to-understand PHP/MySQL markup. The site is built with Twitter BootStrap and is very mobile/multi-device friendly. It is very easy to customize the look and feel of this site, or to create custom functions in the form of "plugins." Seekyt currently has over ten original plugins which cannot be found on any other website.
What About Promotion?
Seekyt has a referral program built in to the revenue sharing agreement to help grow the site via word of mouth. Currently, referring new members will increase a member's own revenue sharing percentage; however, this can also be configured to give users a "share" of their referrals' article's revenue - in other words, you can customize the revenue sharing to split the revenue two or three ways, depending on your own preference.
I do not currently use any form of promotion other than the aforementioned Pinterest account. Any SEO that is used to promote the site is done by authors for their respective articles. I currently spend around 15-30 minutes per day working on Seekyt, and almost 100% of this is spent approving or denying new articles - any remaining time is spent replying to emails or using Pinterest to promote an image from a Seekyt article. To protect our site from spam, we currently hold new accounts in "Moderation" status until the author has three approved articles credited to their account. This can be modified quite easily.
How Will The Transaction Work?
My plan for the transaction is as follows: the winner of the auction will work with me to customize the necessary parts of the site(for example, changing the revenue sharing scheme or the referral program, and removing my AdSense/VigLink/Content.ad account and replacing it with your own), and I will also work with the highest bidder to hand over the Pinterest and Twitter/Facebook accounts, as well as our sister domain TopicSpotter. Finally, I will turn over control of the sites to the winner by changing the login credentials for the sites and social networks. You will receive full control of the sites, the files, and the domains. I can also work to transfer my current web hosting to you (used for both Seekyt and sister-site TopicSpotter) if you would like to avoid any headaches or technical problems transferring the site(s).
Why Am I Selling Seekyt.com?
Seekyt.com is more popular and lucrative for me than it has ever been. The only reason I am selling this site, which is practically a hands-off breadwinner for me, is because both of my parents are recently disabled and facing serious health challenges, and since they can no longer work I need the money to help them with their expenses. My mother is facing a lung transplant which will also have long-term implications and costs which my family cannot afford.
Seekyt.com is my baby and it is not without a heavy heart that I am deciding to sell this project. I know that, for the right person, this site will be an excellent investment. There is so much content to promote, so much room for further development and new features to be built, that it will be easy to transform this website into an even more profitable venture for anyone willing to spend the time and effort. Even without doing any additional work, you will still have a guaranteed earner at your fingertips.
I will be more than happy to answer any questions you have about Seekyt. Thanks for your interest and for taking the time to bid on my site!
