Why are we selling?
Set up in 2010 as a free email service, MyEmail.com is currently inactive. The company has recently moved its resources to social media and cloud based projects and is no longer developing or providing support for MyEmail.com. At its peak, MyEmail.com generated nearly $500,000 in revenue from the co-registration market, AdSense display ads, and CPA pop-unders. However, with the decline of the co-registration market, and the resulting loss of revenue from the site, we decided to focus on our other sites. The service has not been actively managed for 18 months, hence its current status as a depreciating product. The MyEmail.com site currently only offers a remote pop3/imap email checking service, no free email services are provided.
Technology and Costs
The MyEmail.com service currently runs on two FreeBSD LAMP Unix servers housed in our datacenter rack in Columbus, OH. The email software engine that runs the service is a proprietary solution, Surgemail from http://netwinsite.com.
Because we host our own servers it is difficult to calculate the total running costs of the site. Suffice to say, the servers that are currently running MyEmail.com are overkill for the remaining users. The service, as is, could easily be operated on a small hosting account and/or on Amazon's cloud hosting services.
How is Revenue Currently being Generated?
Currently, revenue is being generated by Google AdSense advertising only. In recent months – and despite the fact that MyEmail.com continues to operate without active support or optimization – AdSense revenues from the site have been approximately $1300. From time to time we generate an additional $500-$750 per month by using pop-unders on the site to cross-promote the company’s other products.
What is included in the sale?
The MyEmail.com domain name, all logos, site design and the software required to run the service. The sale does not include hardware or hosting services. On completion of the sale, the buyer will have 30 days to move the property to a new hosting location.
Additional Revenue Details
For us, the running costs of MyEmail.com are negligible because we run the service on generic white box servers housed in our datacenter rack along with the rest of the company’s infrastructure. All of our current revenue is generated from AdSense.
Additional Traffic Details
At present our traffic comes from SEO and returning users. The site receives 4-5 thousand visitors per day. We rank very highly for the terms "check email" and "my email". On average, we receive 2000 visitors per day from organic search engine queries and something in the region of 30,000 active users who login to check their remote pop3/imap email accounts.
