Seller's Notes

Popular Penny Auction Site for Sale. Good earner for me the last 8 months... havent had the time to devote to it so it should go to someone who can take it further. Included in sale is:,
Penny Auction Forum,
Penny Auction Warfare E-book,
Penny Auction Portal Android App
E-mail list with 500 subscribers (Hosted at iContact)

This site is ranked for a TON of top-converting & earning keywords. Here is a small sampling of clicks from yesterday:

I have a live tracking system in place, it shows all clicks as they come in in real-time, and tells you which keyword they searched for. Tracking system setup and install is included in the sale.

Additional Revenue Details

The site has consistently earned $1500+ a month for the last 8 months with no signs of slowing down. Revenue is generated from affiliate links to various penny auction sites, who then pay you for signups and leads (Some pay over $80.00 per lead).

Here are my earnings from Jan 2011 - Present (Each link represents a different affiliate network):     $5,885.00      $2,900.00      $2,823.35         $180.00        $130.00

Total earned in 8 months: $11,918.35 (Avg $1,489 per month)

I never ran adsense on the site, nor did I try any type of advertising whatsoever. That's another avenue for you to explore and increase your earnings.

I also have a list of 500+ e-mail subscribers (They subscribed in order to get the e-book, which also contains affiliate links), and I've never marketed to them. These people trust the site as a figure of authority, and also need other products and services that you could easily market to them on a regular basis.

Additional Traffic Details

All traffic comes organically from google, bing, and yahoo searches. I have never paid a dime for PPC marketing on this site.

Like I said, I have a tracking system in place on the site, so you get to see the clicks come in in real-time. I implemented the tracking system at the tail-end of January, and here are (a few) of the top keywords:

[Keyword]  Unique Clicks

[no keyword] 5951
[best penny auction sites 2011]   2399

...there are over 2,300 keywords in the list since Jan 20th.

How do you make money from the site and is there an automated system that bids up the auction automatically?

In order to not have to answer the same questions twice I have posted the following pm's I have received:

What is your reserve price?

At this time I prefer to keep the reserve private, please bid what you feel you are willing to pay. However the reserve is lower than industry standard for this type of site.
Is the affiliate account part of the sale?

There are multiple accounts at different affiliate networks. I will give you directions to sign up for each network. I also get a decent amount of e-mails from startup penny auction sites who want their site featured, or a review. I usually don't respond because I don't have the time, many of them seem to have their own affiliate programs you could sign up for.
How many users does the forum have?

872 users as of 8/24.
How much do you make per sale?

Anywhere from $25-90 per sign up/sale depending on which penny auction they sign up for.
Why is your whois information private?

I use private whois on all my domains, to prevent spam to my e-mail and home address. Nothing shady.
How much does hosting cost?

This site is currently hosted on a VPS of mine, you could easily put it up on $5/month shared hosting. The e-mails are hosted at iContact, and I will provide them as an exported list. You can then import them into your favorite e-mail platform (such as Mail Chimp, Aweber, etc).
Do you have Google Adsense?

No. I've never run adsense on the site. I've solely relied on affiliate income- Adsense is another way you could increase your earnings.
@googalit: I'm not sure you understand the premise of the site. There is no product to ship and there is no bidding going on.

Revenue update 8/24

Total revenue: $11,981.00 (cents rounded off)
Also, per a PM I received, I've gone through monthly earnings at each network, and it turns out revenue was $0.00 in January, my mistake.
So what that means is, if you divide the total revenue by 7 months (excluding January), the site technically made $1,711.00 per month.

"How much do you make per sale"?

"Anywhere from $25-90 per sign up/sale depending on which penny auction they sign up for."
How is the price established? Why does it vary from $25-90? And depends on which site they sign up for? Can you explain this better?

@Badger21: Yes, different penny auction sites offer different payouts for signups. Example:

Your link took me to some game forum. I did not see any info on penny auctions.
So, do you approach the penny auction sites and negotiate a price, or did they approach you and already have established rates?
What if some of the auction sites go out of business. Do you just search for more, or do they contact you?

RevenueBuilder ( | $19.3K )

@Badger21: I'm not sure why you would be seeing anything different at , it's a screenshot of a few different penny auction offers on one of the affiliate networks.
I don't approach anyone, I go through affiliate networks that carry these offers. Across the 5 networks above, there are probably 25-30 different penny auctions active at any given time.
If one of the sites goes out of business, (which has happened before), it's just a matter of switching links to a different offer.
I have yet to work directly with any penny auction site, I've only gone through affiliate networks. That is another avenue for the new owner to explore and possibly earn additional revenue as I know several sites do have their own affiliate programs.
I get at least 2 e-mails a week from new penny auction sites interested in advertising and paid reviews. I simply don't have enough time to respond, so that's another possibility for additional revenue for the new owner.

You analytics show 12k visitors (uniques) within 7 months time which really equates to about 1700 per month so where are you getting that figure you have quoted on this auction page?

RevenueBuilder ( | $19.3K )
Mon, 29 Aug 2011 20:32:47 AEST

@kelly.a.fuller: The figure I quoted was just an estimate based on the top month. I'll also update analytics for August once the month is over in 2 days.

@zackbagans: I would prefer to keep the reserve private at this time. Please bid what you feel is acceptable for a site with this monthly revenue, and thank you for your interest.

Looks like your top ranking keyword by far is [best penny auction sites 2011]. Any thoughts or suggestions on how to maintain this traffic once 2011 becomes irrelevant? Thanks and very interested.

@uxler: Sure, you could easily put up a post titled "Best Penny Auction Sites 2012" for a start; I didn't do anything specific as far as SEO in order to get that particular article ranked. I've always had 100% original content on this site, and Google recognizes that. No spun content or auto blogging. What I normally do is pay attention to which keywords are picking up in volume (via my tracking system) and then write original articles specific to those keywords.
