Description

Hello,

This auction is for the SignaturePoker.com business. SignaturePoker.com is an online drop shipping poker website. It is an established business and brand that has been online for almost 4 years (established June 2004). We sell poker products such as poker chips, poker table tops and poker accessories to our customers.

If you are unaware of what dropshipping is, here is a brief definition:

Drop shipping is a supply chain management technique in which the retailer does not keep goods in stock, but instead transfers customer orders and shipment details to wholesalers, who then ship the goods directly to the customer.

As noted above, one of the major advantages of drop shipping is that you don't have to store any of the products you are selling. The customer places the order, you verify their details as being legit and then you order the product from a company that ships the customer's item directly to them.

This has been a very lucrative business for us. If you take a look at the screen shots on the right, you will see that at it's peak, our business pulled in revenue of over $24,000/yr. This number does not even reflect the $2,500+ that was paid to us in direct advertising.

Last year, even when we didn't have as much time to devote to our business, you can see by the screen shots we still made over $8,000+ in revenue. Anyone who has time to devote to this business should be able to make much more than that.

Adsense is on the site but not positioned is a place as to distract the customer. Since February 2006 the site has made close to $500 in adsense revenue.

Another great reason to purchase this business is that it is turnkey. Our site is already optimized for the keyword "poker chips", which we show up for on the first page of Google at approximately the 6th position. We usually bounce between 4th and 9th on the first page of Google for the term "poker chips". If you enter that term into SEO software (http://www.keyworddiscovery.com/search.html) you'll see that it is searched for more than 55,000 times per month. The hard part has been done for you!

In addition to the benefit of the SEO done for you, the site also has acquired 38 registered (double opt in) newsletter members over the past year or so. Our newsletter is distributed through Aweber.com.

The reason we are selling our business is that we are opening up a few more online businesses. One of these being an SEO company. We used our white hat SEO techniques to obtain our great position in Google.

    Hi,
You said you devoted more time to the business prior. Did this include promotion at forums, websites, etc? What methods took the time and how much time was devoted to site, both in the past as well as present.
Have you ever spent money on advertising?
Finally, what has been your chargeback/fraud rate? And of course, net revenue after all expenses please.
    Thanks!

    FG

Thanks for all the questions. I will try to answer them in order.
What was your net profit on the $8,000 in revenue?

Honestly we haven't done the numbers yet for last year. If I had to guess I would say 3-3.5K of the 8.6K was profit. Will this be how much someone else makes? Not necessarily because of course you can set your prices at whatever you'd like.
What kind of traffic does your site receive? How many uniques per month?

Right now it looks like we are getting between 1-1.5K uniques per month.
hi what is the bank account being used for?

Bank account was mentioned in the listing for the purpose of receiving money from transactions and of course paying for orders through the dropshipper.
stamping is done by dropshipper too?

Dropshipper does stamping as well as poker labels that can be placed on the poker chips. Just want to mention that the inventory that we post on our site is not even close to what the dropshipper actually has in their warehouse. Their inventory is HUGE! We haven't had the time to add any of the other poker items they offer. If I had to guess a percentage of what poker items we have on our site in comparison to what they sell, I would say we have about %5 of their items listed. Just a guess.
    5k? holy snap......

Hope this was a good holy snap :o)
You said you devoted more time to the business prior. Did this include promotion at forums, websites, etc?

I may have done a little promotion on websites and forums but it was very minimal. Maybe one forum or website at most. We did experiment with adwords a little a few years ago. We were rookies then so it worked out ok (no losses but no real gains) but I would say 99% of our visitors came and still come from organic search.
Have you ever spent money on advertising?

Haven't used adwords in a year or two but we did briefly experiment.
Finally, what has been your chargeback/fraud rate?

Actually, last year was our first year experiencing fraud in our 4 years in business. The good thing about yahoo merchant solutions is that you can see whether bill to info matches the cc. If there's no match you can simply cancel the order. We have all the numbers that are needed for verifying amex, visa, discover and mastercard. This info of course will be passed on to the next owner of the site. Last year I would say that we received about 3-5 fraud orders the whole year.
who is your business partner that provides the drop shipping?

I will provide this info only to the winner of the auction. They are reputable and I could be wrong but I believe they supply a good majority of the poker sites on the net today.
The site isn't even on the first page when searching google for "poker chips"

I just checked and I am showing us in the #10 spot. Can anyone verify this? As I said before, we tend to bounce around on the first page. The screen shot I provided was from about 4 days ago. Our usual spot is at #6.

Ok. SERPS must be different in other places because I am still #10 here for poker chips without the quotes.

    Hi
Thanks for those answers above. I also did a search of poker chips (broad match) and you still come up on the second page. I use the global plug in for firefox so able to see results from wherever. Can you provide at least the state you're located to confirm this result? You do come up in position #12 for the last few days I've monitored.
This is total transfer of ownership correct? so we're able to revamp the look of the page as it seems the designer may have requested credit which I don't plan to give. The phone number you use...is that also transferable?
What happened to the blog on the site? Did it get banned? I saw an cached pic of it and it was a typical (blue header) wordpress blog but it served its purpose. Also are you running any scripts on the resource page? Where these manually added or using a link exchange system? Thanks.

Unfortunately, about 2 or 3 days ago I checked the rankings here and our site does indeed show up in the #12 position. I guess it took a while but it finally trickled down. Don't really know what to say about this. For the past 3 or 4 months we bounced around the first page usually staying around the #6 spot. Hopefully, the SERPS will adjust and we can get back to the first page.
This is a total transfer of ownership of signaturepoker.com. You can revamp the site if you'd like. Too much revamping could lead to more SERPS adjustments though. No need to keep the designers credit there. The designer is a friend of mine and I can let them know. The phone number will not be transfered because I will use this for other businesses.
The blog did not get banned, I just stopped making post. A few years ago I had no idea how to change the wordpress templates so I just left it. I never went back and changed it after I learned how because I didn't plan on making any more post. I do have an aweber script on all the pages. I used to use a link exchange script or two but I have since canceled my memberships.
I think that's it. Thanks for looking!

    Hi
Thanks for the reply. You are right about not changing too much the layout, I wouldn't want to have to be adjusted by the SERPS in a negative direction! About the approval of the dropshipper. Can this be done before the switch happens as a new owner would be left holding the "empty bag" :) I also wonder if they have an exclusive deal with you...meaning can one acquire products from other dropshippers and sell simultaneously on the site or is this against their agreement?
The 38 subscribers would also turn over to the new owner? Can one see the newsletter template you are using plus the past newsletters you've sent to them? I also have an Aweber account so familiar with the templates there. Just want to know the writing style you have been using to speak to them. About the direct advertisers you used. Could you give the new owners access to them? They have had success with you and that would also be an added benefit. Thanks again.
