DohGames has been a staple in the Emulation gaming community for coming up on 6 years. I started the website with the goal of being the best rom website out there.

The site has changed quite a lot since I began and I just recently decided to call it quits. The website was still very popular and could be monetize much better by someone with more experience than myself.

It's currently a PR3 domain and traffic was quite high. The downloads have been disabled, but you can view the site in its original state here:

By purchasing this site, you'll get the following:

  • The domain name
  • All custom scripting that I made for the site, which includes a download manager that managed over 30,000 downloads as well as a basic news script. All were coded in PHP/MySQL and come AS IS.

What this sale does not include:

  • Any of the files that were available for download
  • Any of the graphics associated with the website

Additional Revenue Details

DohGames is built to provide thousands of files for people to download, thus its revenue comes from advertising. The website receives a large amount of page hits every month, thus ad revenue could be greatly expanded by someone with more experience in the field.

The website most currently was making around $330 a month in ad revenue which pays for more than the website costs. Again, more could be made by monetizing it correctly.

Additional Traffic Details

DohGames still receives about 4.5K to 5K unique visitors every day. A large amount of the traffic comes from Japan; however, its US audience is quite large.

Why did you take the site down? Does it have to do with why you can't transfer any of the files that were for download?

    Hi robertval,
I closed down the site primarily because I had lost personal interest in running an emulation website after such a long time. In terms of not transferring the files, because I do not own the actual downloads I cannot sell them. Therefore, they should not be factored into the sale. If you'd like to talk more about this, please message me as I'd love to talk to you further about it. Thanks.

Why not offer the downloads for "free" then to the winning bidder?

If the site was ticking along nicely then why pull it down completely? Surely that would hamper any attempt to sell it? It's a shame as I would be very interested in this......
    Do you have analytics data?

i think you gotta mention this....i know you are not hiding it, but obviously any site built in its place would have to be 'legit' ...
(from your site you mention on your site...)

    # DohGames' End

    # Posted on Jul 27, 2010

After receiving a cease and desist from the ESA, I've decided to close up shop on DohGames. For those that don't know, DohGames was my first website that I ever created back when I was 14. It's what got me into website creation and management and now into web development.
While I am saddened to let it go, I felt it was time to move on and give a fresh start to my professional IT career. I am without a doubt extremely happy with the way DohGames turned out and wouldn't have changed a thing.
If you'd like to take a look at the notice that I've put on on the site, you can check it out here. If you find any pages that are still active, it's been purely by mistake and if you let me know I'll get it fixed ASAP."

    Hi sisyphus,
That is correct. Throughout the website's history, I've received multiple C&D orders and have complied completely. The most recent one was merely the straw that broke the camel's back in regards to me moving on. The website would still be able to offer thousands of downloads without trouble.

    Hi hs.forev,
Legally, the files cannot be sold as part of this auction. However, if people wish to inquire further about anything related to that, I ask that they contact me and I'll do my best to answer them promptly.
Also, a 6 year old website that is well known within the community, a PR3 domain, as well as a custom download management system is much, much more than "nothing".
