Update: How to Edit your Listing Once it’s Live

When we introduced our new listing process a few weeks ago, we made one major change that proved to be very unpopular: we stopped allowing edits to the listing description once the listing was live.

Today, we’re bringing back the limited ability to edit live listings.

Why We Limited Edits

One of the main confusions stemming from managing a listing was determining when a seller could and could not edit their listing. While our policy (to allow edits in the description up until the first bid has been placed) was clear to most regular sellers, it confused newcomers to Flippa and occasional sellers.

In restricting the ability to edit live listings, we also aimed for a higher quality in listings across the board by asking sellers to thoroughly review their listing before it went live for omissions and typos. We didn’t anticipate the amount of new information sellers would want to add to their listing once a2 listing is live.

Why We’re Bringing Edits Back

A few weeks post-launch, it’s clear: sellers want to be able to make small adjustments to their listing for as long as possible. While we can’t allow sellers to modify the description once a bid has been placed, we’re happy to bring back a limited edit function to live listings.

To edit your listing title or description, click on the User Settings menu at the top of your listing, and select “Change Title and Description”.

Some Things Don’t Change

In the interest of presenting accurate listings to all potential buyers, some things can’t be edited: this includes revenue and traffic data, as well as tags and, of course, the domain or website up for sale.

    Hello.

Today I created auction, but during description filling forgot add traffic and Monetization Methodes.
I already paid auction fees and now can’t edit traffic and monetization methodes.

Auction has not any bid (auction just created).

Why I have not possibilities edit and fill traffic and monetization methodes ???

      Hi Eduard,
The description and title can be edited once an auction is live, but the traffic and revenue information can’t be edited by the seller. Get in touch at support@flippa.com with the information you’d like to add and one of our support agents will help make it happen!

I need to change the sale price what I need to do?

    • Ophelie Lechat

Hi Nitza! You can change your reserve price or Buy It Now price from the seller toolbar on your listing, as long as bidding hasn’t reach your reserve yet.

    Hello,

Did the the policy for adding another hour to the listing when there is a bid within the last hour also change? Just now somebody bid in the last five minutes and five minutes later the auction ended…

    Thanks!
    Jens

    • Ophelie Lechat

      Hi Jens,
I’m not 100% sure I have the correct auction, but it looks like the bid you mention was a Buy It Now bid. In that case, the auction ends immediately — there’s no extension, since a buyer has chosen to buy the site immediately.

        Hello Ophelie,

The listing was not a buy now bid.I do remember that i made a mistake in the listing by setting it to 30 days and after the listing was live changed it to 3 days. Could it be this has something to do with it?

        Thanks for your reply!
        Jens

        • Ophelie Lechat

          Hi Jens,

It shouldn’t, no. Can you email me the listing at ophelie@flippa.com and I’ll have a look?

Its nice to see this update. So, finally we can edit our listing once its live.

So I have this question..it is not related to this post, but I hope someone will answer.
Can you sell a blog that has a custom domain name but which is hosted on Blogger?

Thank you in advance for your reply!

    • Ophelie Lechat

      Hi Craig!

Unfortunately, sites hosted on Blogger can’t be sold, but if you were to host the site elsewhere, you’d be able to list it on Flippa.

While I understand the need to prevent changes to the description after bids have been made, making other important changes to the listing is now impossible (like revenue, traffic, etc).

I don’t believe this is a good change for either buyers or sellers of websites as now listings are running with incomplete or inacurate information with no way to change or modify it.

Also, you claim that flippa support will help – this is total BS. Flippa support is absolutely awful. They are very slow to respond to support tickets and when they do, often they do not solve the problem requiring multiple contacts.

I don’t see this as a good change for website buyers or sellers.
