Navigation Refinements: When Less is More

What’s missing from this picture?
“A designer knows he has achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.” —Antoine De Saint-Exupery
In an effort to simplify our navigation and focus on the Flippa offering, we’re considering removing the three listing type tabs that used to appear above the main navigation (All, Websites, Domains). Check it out on our beta site.
Why the change?
The main motivator for this change is the desire to focus on our primary purpose: being the #1 marketplace for buying and selling websites. Buying and selling websites is what attracts people to Flippa and is our main point of difference to other marketplaces. We’re not really the place you go for domains, and we realise that.
That’s not to say we won’t be listing domains. Domain sellers are still welcome to list domains for sale on Flippa and if anything, will receive more exposure to buyers as domain listings will be mixed in with website listings.
For buyers not interested in domain only listings, you can use the Listing Type filter to remove domains from your results:

We reckon this helps promote a positive user experience for both buyers and sellers, but we’d love to hear your feedback. Check out the changes on Flippa Beta then give us your opinion in the comments section below.

I have 800 websites and over 2000 plus domains that I have been building up for the past 10 years.
My recent experience of marketing domains only on Flippa has not proven positive, with high advertising costs and low interest.I therefore will continue to search or create a professional domain website outlet that specializes in the marketing of premium domain names.
Having said that I do extend praise and urge Flippa to focus only on their main core business of marketing websites,as the failure of selling domains may infringe upon the good reputation acheived from selling websites.

I like the more focused idea.
You can’t be all things to all people.
Great job and always stay focused on your objective.
Looking forward to the new changes.

New site looks nice, and is much more clean, but again, wishing the old sales page layout will be implemented.
Anyways, do update us on what other features you want to implement before actually doing it for the live site! Thanks.

Do you really believe the new listings layout is attracting more views/bids?
Its a failure, Can’t you accept this and rollback?
Anyways, this new idea of letting the users preview the upcoming changes is very great move.

deana, thanks for the report, you should now be able to see the listings. It seems we’re bumping into a Firefox sub-pixel rendering bug.
