After tabulating hundreds of votes, we are pleased to announce the winners of our first annual Flippie Awards.

Drumroll please…

Best Site Content:  Militarybases.com

Best Domain Listing:  Weddingvows.com

Best Blog Site:  Tiptoptens.com

Best E-Commerce Site:  Madokamodern.com

Best Site Monetization:  Vacationrental.org

Best Web/Mobile Apps:  Qhub.com

Best Overall Site:  MilitaryBases.com

Militarybases.com garnered the most votes on any site in any of the categories.  We caught up with Dan Anderson, the creator of Militarybases.com, about his win.

“I am honored to be recognized by Flippa for the sale of MilitaryBases.com in the first ever Flippie Awards! The sales price I was able to achieve for this site was life changing.”

Paying It Forward

“I’m also very humbled by this sale,” says Dan. “It’s only thanks to the webmaster community, especially found on forums and in chat rooms, that I know how to make websites at all. That’s why my next project, LearnTheWeb.com, is about paying it forward. I’m tired of seeing people swindled by gurus with long sales letters that promise easy money. I’ll be sharing everything I know about the building the web, for free. I won’t promise that it’s quick or easy, but I can tell you from experience that it pays off.”

Nominated websites were chosen from over 29,000 websites and domains that were sold on Flippa.com in 2012. Each category had 5 nominated sites competing for the award.

A big congratulations to all of our winners from all of us at Flippa!

You do realize that the winner, militarybases.com, has blog posts stuffed with links to buy pills and stuff, right?

    How embarrassing for Flippa, lol.

A quick look at the MilitaryBases.com blog shows posts about PTSD and the military, snipers, movers that work with military families, and retirement from the military. Pretty relevant, I’d say!

    Hello,
Congrats to MilitaryBases.com, I personally think is a great site.
One question, Where can we see the number of votes given to each site?

And by the way, I don’t see any crappy or spammy content at that site. -
