Description

Ranks #1 for "cigar shop" on google. This cigar shop was one of the first on the web. It has been around I believe since 94. I took it over last June and haven't spent much time working on it or promoting it. I am not a cigar person and was just running it on the side. I believe someone with a love for cigars and good online marketing skills could do very well with this site. You can have the shopping cart if you would like it as well. I have a dropshipper who is located in Scottsdale that you should be able to use but basically any local cigar shop will probably be willing to work with you. The site did 28,800.05 in revenue July 1st 05, to July 1st 06. We upgraded the cart July1st but I think there were sales before then. I am going to get my accountant to get the returns for 05. I think when I first put up my site it was doing very good but I stopped promoting it. Here is a link to the old site. I will work on getting referrer data but I think I only have a months worth and the site has been done for most of that time so it will not be accurat as most traffic goes directly to the brand pages. http://www.vcigar.com/Shopping/home/ I took the site down about a month ago.

Revenue Details

The site did 28,800.05 in revenue July 1st 05, to July 1st 06.

I took it down because I couldn't handle the customer service. I have a full time job and other side projects and I've been trying to sell it on sedo. Amazingly enough I only took down the real homepage and people were still ordering through the old URL's that were in the engines. So I finally took down the checkout page the other day. The site made money but is just too much for me to handle.

Revenue of ~ 28K in teh past year, how much is NET INCOME, since that's all that really matters in business.

Interesting that you take down a site and then try and sell it for a minimum of 2.5 years revenue, doesn't make sense to me.

I look forward to getting more info from you.

    # Established: 16 Aug 2006 I don't know where you got this from. Check here http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://vcigar.com
    # Uniques/Month: 4,500
    # Monthly Revenue: 3000

"HUH? Can you please explain that?" very easily, The traffic is only for the last month, thats all the data I have in my logs. The revenue data I averaged since June. If you look at the revenue for August it is only $261, and it would be lower but people were getting into the site through other pages then the homepage and ordering even though the site did not have a functional homepage. Just the other day I took down the checkout form so now no one else can order.

Obviously traffic was higher in previous months but I don't have the data. People can't seem to realize why I pulled the homepage down so if you must know I will share more about myself. I am doing very well with other sites and consulting. I started to feel overwhelmed from everything that I do. So I took it down not because this business wasn't doing well but because I just had too much on my plate and I figured it would sell fast. It took me a while to realize that sitepoint is the place to sell website businesses. I wish I had listed it here in the first place.

Everything I have posted is legit. I will get tax returns and maybe some files from authorize.net would help.

Current dropshipper charges wholesale plus 20 percent. Markup on cigars is usually well above %100 of wholesale.

    HI
Just a couple questions to see if I want to bid on your site...
I'm looking for net $$$ made with gross being $28,800. Will you post that prior to the end of your sale?
Will current vendor(s) work with new owner with a contract for current markup? Will you supply vendor information for direct contact? What is the percentage of merchandise ordered shipped? Are all brands in stock at all times?
Since your shopping cart is not working right now, can it be tested to see if it is compatible with my current card processor? Since the cart comes with the site, can it be customized to accomodate new and or additional products?
Does a client contact list come with the site?

I hope to hear from you soon to determine my bidding strategy.
    Thanks

I will supply the vendor contact information and I am pretty sure that he will work with you no problem but I cannot guarantee this as I have no control over the supplier. I am thinking he does not even really need to know the company has changed hands you will just need to update the credit/debit card on file with him. I cannot warranty the shopping cart with work with other card processors either. It is programmed in asp classic and if it doesn't work with your processor it shouldn't cost too much to have someone fix it. There are also a lot of free carts out there you could use instead.

About the net income I will try to see if I can get my accountant to come up with this.

    HI once again
Just a couple more questions to see if I want to bid on your site.
I guess my question was vague about whether or not you can customize the shopping cart to add or remove items.
Also, can I hire and ASP developer to make changes to the cart that comes with the site?
Thanks so much for your quick response. I hope to get the rest of my questions answered today.

I didn't ask about screen shots...I asked if the shopping cart could be customized to add and or remove products AND if I can hire an ASP Developer to make changes that come with the site? I hope to hear from you soon. Thanks

    One from May2 2005 to Aug 17 2006
The other is from August 2 2005 to August 17 2006

I can answer any other authorize.net questions quickly. Hope this helps.

Cigarlover in the cart it is very easy to add and remove products and you can definately hire and asp developer to make changes to the asp code as you see fit as you will have full access to the code.

The refunds are because our cuurent supplier would be out of stock on a particular order. We would just issue a refund and send an email to the client. Over the past 2-3 months the inventory data file hasnt been updated so most of these refunds happened recently. There were many orders that we refunded after we took the site down (the orders that were coming in through the url's in the search engines), we refunded all of those, maybe 15 orders or so.

That being said that is one of the reasons it would be best to partner up with a local supplier.

If the winner wants to become an affiliate for Thompson Cigar, I can give you a percentage of every gross sale of our products. The payout will be higher than any other cigar company can offer. Contact me through my affiliate blog at thompson affiliate dot com.
