Description

TweepML.org was created a few months ago to make it easier to follow many Twitter users with a single click. It also defines a protocol/format called TweepML (Tweep Markup Language) that allows applications and services to exchange lists of Twitter users in a standard format. TweepML also allows users to directly follow the individual members of Twitter-List, instead of following the list itself, which permits you to select just the users you are interested in following.

This sale includes everything needed to operate and own TweepML.org and all associated services with it: All code (C#/ASP.NET), Domains, @TweepML account, TweepML blog, Data, Logfiles and Documents.

Why sell it?

The first question people would probably ask me is why am I selling it and what's the catch. The answer is simple: I need to focus on fewer projects on my life. TweepML was a great project and got instantaneous traction. But over the months I've been busy doing other things and not giving it the attention it needs to continue to grow and flourish either as a service or as a complement to another service. The key to successful building a business is focus, and I'm doing too many things at once and that's not working. So, I'm selling TweepML so someone else can give it the deserved attention.

The TweepML protocol is an open royalty-free standard, so the acquirer must agree to continue to keep it that way.

Transfer of Assets

I'm trying to keep things simple. This means if you buy it, you have to pay and take over the service as fast as possible. 

All the asset will be transferred after the payment has been cleared, and the full transfer of the service must be complete no more than 2 weeks after payment. The buyer must provide a new server running Windows 2008 and SQL Server, and I'll configure it to appropriately run the service. The code will be transferred to the buyer as-is, without any explicit or implicit guarantees. Portions of the code are open source, or licensed from others, particularly generic libraries. The TweepML core service uses proprietary code and the buyer will be the sole owner. Once I transfer the code, I'll detail what's licensed and what's proprietary. I'll also provide up to 40-hours of consulting to guarantee a smooth transition. The consulting can be done over email, phone, video-conference or face-to-face. In the event the buyer is outside of the Seattle region, all traveling expenses incurred must be paid by the buyer. 

If the buyer wants to convert the existing C#/.NET to another platform (PHP, Java, Ruby, etc.) I will allow the service to continue to run on my server for up to 4 weeks or until the new service is ready to take over.

Revenue Details

Currently TweepML runs Adsense ads on some pages, and that generates about $150/month. Part of the sale includes me giving some strategic advice on how to better monetize the service. We have several ideas that never came to fruition due to lack of time.

Traffic Details

TweepML has a steady traffic with it's occasional peaks -- usually because of a celebrity or well known Twitter user starts promoting their lists on TweepML. All data from Google Analytics.

- January traffic: 79,000 visits / 228,000 page views
