Description

OpelikaSewing.com is a drop-ship business for the Singer sewing machine company.  Being drop-ship, you'll never have to handle any product.  The process is extremely easy.  Simple collect payment from buyers, submit the order to Singer via email, and pay the dealer invoice.

The OpelikaSewing.com domain is 4 years old.  It's already listed in the Yahoo Directory, as well as numerous other directories.  It's fully indexed by Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc.  It's also included in numerous online shopping systems, such as Google Products, NextTag, Best-Price, etc.  We've also used it in social areas: YouTube channel, Facebook group, Twitter feed, etc.

You may notice that the site runs on an e-commerce package titled Niche Blueprint.  Niche is simply CRE Loaded with plugins pre-installed, bugs corrected, and a few layout changes to the admin.  It is extremely stable and easy to use.

I purchased this business early Jan. 2010 with the intent of improving it and selling it.  Improvements made include:

  • significant SEO work
  • content improvement, focusing on keywords and sales strategies
  • improvements/modifications to the e-commerce system
  • marketing work (link building, social web marketing, etc.)

Revenue Details

Between 12/17/10 and 1/24/10 (for the sake of simplicity, I'm calling this 1 month in my figures), the site made 8 sales.  Revenue totaled $3426.

Profits were appr. $800, after the following costs:

  • dealer cost from Singer
  • Paypal payment %
  • $30 for Paypal Virtual Terminal/Web Payments Pro
  • $10 for hosting (HostGator package + static IP for SSL)
  • domain and SSL certificate

Traffic Details

Jan.'s totals were 971 uniques and 2979 pageviews.

The majority of traffic was organic, coming from a mix of search engines and Google Shopping.  Others came from our social outlets (Facebook, Twitter, StumbleUpon, etc), a small $5/day AdWords campaign, directories, and others.

Hi, few additional questions. Can you please post the sales figures with profit, monthly for the past year. Assuming you must have been provided those before buying the site earlier this month. Also, will you be sharing your social outlet methods? Finally, have you verified the new buyer can take over the drop ship account?

Thanks and good luck with sale,
    FG

I'm interested as well and would like to take a look at google analytics. How long does it take to run this site per day? What's involved in this process?

    Thanks,
    David

@FinanceGuy I uploaded my sales figures (see the XLS attachment). Unfortunately, I do not have figures prior to my purchase. I bought the site mainly for the aged and indexed domain. Here are some of the social media areas -- all accounts will be handed over:
    http://www.facebook.com/pages/Opelika-Sewing/256774550567
    http://twitter.com/opelikasewing
There's also http://www.youtube.com/user/OpelikaSewing, but unfortunately I don't believe I have access to it.
The buyer should have no issues getting an account with Singer, provided that your credit is not "horrible." You can sign up with a tax id, etc., but they also have a standard credit application -- that's the avenue I took. Extremely easy.

@avis03 I apologize, but I never installed Analytics. I did upload my awstats, though. Please let me know if any other areas of the awstats would be helpful (origin, viewed, etc.).
Singer offers a few other "main" products (steamers, commercial machines, etc.) that are available for drop-shipping, but I chose to focus on the ones you see. You could most certainly add additional manufactures. I know the Brother company has a similar drop-ship program.
The best BIN price is what's listed. Thanks!

@gamers Please see above -- I apologize, but awstats is all that's available.
The site can take almost no time to run -- collecting orders is as simple as shooting an email to the account manager. However, I did spend additional time for marketing. Also, Singer will change prices or offer promotional Minimum Advertised Prices once every couple of months -- but, it's extremely easy to change prices and add specials.

A little more detail about the hand-off. The site is currently hosted at HostGator -- I'd be more than willing to simply hand-over the account. It's $9.95 a month (including a static IP address to support SSL). If you'd rather use a different host, I'm willing to assist with the files and database transfer.

The domain and SSL certificate are with GoDaddy. I'd be happy to give a free push.

I'm reducing the auction period to 3 weeks. I'll be out of town on business in March, so I'd like everything wrapped up by then. Thanks!

Also, note that this is CRE Loaded (oscommerce) -- I used Paypal Payments Pro/Virtual Terminal for credit card payments, but it has the entire suite of payment modules installed.

It was extremely easy to use Paypal, however. Revenue is deposited there, and then I used the Paypal debit card to pay all dealer invoices. That way, my checking account was never in the middle ;)

I uploaded 2009 stats, as well as Jan 2010's traffic origins.

Note that traffic was higher at the beginning of 2009. It must be noted that previous to the drop-ship site, the domain was owned by a physical store in Alabama. The higher traffic was due to this reason.

Fortunately, the store did a lot of backlink and marketing footwork!
