I can't say I am sorry to hear you guys are selling - BANS is SUCH a solid platform, and having made the choice not to take it farther on your own, I commend you both for offering the platform to the next set of developers for further growth.
I am sure some in these messages will say that BANS is a dead engine - but its only been caused harm by the users not using it properly. I can attest from first hand experience, BANS is a very good platform to build with for both entry level and seasoned affiliates alike!

We've been involved with niche sites since we started online 5 years ago - developing them solidly for close to 2 years before we built the first basic BANS script for our own use and then later released it publicly.
5 years is a long time and the cross-roads we reached is that we either truly commit to the development of this network for a further 3 - 5 years or we pass the opportunity on.
After thinking it all through we've decided we need new challenges and this project needs new blood.
It's as simple as that now.

In terms of sales - this is why Build A Niche Store has had reduced sales activity since summer 08:
1. Google de-indexing of thin affiliate sites caused scare amongst affiliate marketers.
2. We drastically changed the sales presentation and sales message of BANS in August 08. As most of the traffic at that time was coming from the viral momentum across blogs and forums that BANS was an easy and quick way to make money online our complete changing of the message produced an immediate and inevitable conflict with a large percentage of our visitor base. The halving of revenue from August to September was a direct consequence of that change. At that time our focus wasn't on the project so rather than it all go up in smoke with the nay sayers we moved it out of the limelight opting for a shot at longevity rather than short-term sales.
3. We have not done any active marketing since we changed the sales presentation and message - the continued sales of BANS from then until now is based purely on the existing references to it and any new references that naturally pop up.
4. BANS has not been developed since early 08 when we completed and released V3.On the flip side - here's our view of the quickest way to increase exposure and sales moving forward using what's already there:
1. Create a more dynamic and appealing sales presentation for BANS - with a thousand unique visitors a day improving conversion shouldn't be difficult and it is not something we've tested.
2. Create a more dynamic and appealing sales presentation for N1WAY and better align and connect the 2 together. Channel traffic from BANS to N1WAY.
3. Market N1WAY - the value of Build A Niche Store as a niche site builder is clearly illustrated in N1WAY. To the average or aspiring internet marketer an inexpensive straight forward guide is always going to be an easier sell than a built for task niche site builder. To buy BANS straight someone really has to understand niche sites or at least have an existing interest in the model. To buy N1WAY all someone has to want is a clear illustration of a legitimate way to make money online. The overall target market is much much wider.
N1WAY readers either then become niche site builders or they don't. If they do they will normally use either Build A Niche Store or Wordpress with associated plugins. If they use Build A Niche Store you make a secondary sale and if they use Wordpress rather than Build A Niche Store then you have a good chance at making an affiliate commission for the phpBay or other plugins recommended in N1WAY and you still have that new person inside your overall customer list / database.
While I'm on N1WAY I'd also like to add that it is a real piece of writing - that truly explains and illustrates how to make a salary equivalent living from the internet via the development of niche sites.
Because we haven't marketed N1WAY beyond our internal BANS list (a John Chow sponsored blog post being the exception) the value of N1WAY as a structural guide to making money online hasn't made it's way into the larger market yet.

The bottom line is that as BANS grew in popularity quantity rather than quality became the direction of many users.
This meant that people were building sites like this:

Replicas of parts of eBay rather than value based information sites for internet consumers (largely search engine users).
As Google once again targeted thin affiliate sites people lost rankings, traffic and revenue and BANS was blamed by some as the source of the problem.

Wow, big step to sell this. Hope you all find the right person to take over. As a customer of BANs, allow me to say that this system of Ebay Affiliate marketing has been a blessing to many. I purchased BANs about 3 years ago and recently the N1WayToMakeMoney that totally outlines what has to be done to make Bans sites successful. A quick update...
We've made a significant change to the auction.

Wow that really is a bargain for someone to own the BANS platform and everything that goes with it. Its a shame I don't have quite enough to purchase it myself. I'd be surprised if no one takes the opportunity to own this before time runs out.
