I am selling my online marine website directory as I no longer have the time to market and develop the business, plus I will shortly be moving abroad with limited internet access for three years.

I started this business as I identified a gap in the market.  I noticed that there were a large number of fishing and dive boat charter directories, a couple of sailing directories but nothing that could serve the needs of a variety of individuals interested in marine pursuits, fishing, boats, etc.  The website also serves as portal for boat owners looking for spare parts, finance, insurance, transportation etc.  My vision was to create a one stop website for the marine world.  I believe I have done this but it now needs to be promoted and have it’s full potential realised.  I started creating this website in August 2007, at the time I had a job that provided quite a bit of free time  -plus I was living abroad so I didn’t have a particularly full social life!  

The website is built and maintained using software provided by 7soft.  It has a full content management system and WYSIWIG editor.

Listing creation is the backbone of the website.  Companies pay to have their business listed on our website.  Companies create their own listing by adding text and images, they choose which categories they would like to appear in, they pay securely online.  Once our moderator has approved the listing it appears online immediately and the customer is automatically sent an email alerting them that it is live.  Customers can then log onto their page and modify or add to it at any time of the day or night.

The website software is built around SEO with a number of easy to use tools, including; internal keyword link creation, keyword density percentage, meta tag creation, bread crumbs creation etc.  In addition the website has been submitted to a huge number of web directories including the Yahoo directory.  We have also exchanged links with other relevant websites and gained a number of high page rank one way links. 

The software includes easy to use tools for website analysis.  You can review daily hits, monthly hits, recent referrals, referrals by month, recent search terms, search terms by month, most popular pages, and view who’s currently online and what page they are looking at. 

In addition we have set up Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools for the site.
