Description

This was bought on here just before Christmas and is back up for auction now because whilst I was thinking I wouldn't win the auction (because I hadn't met the reserve), I bought some other sites. This site is now surplus to requirements and going at a very good price.

The original auction can be viewed at http://marketplace.sitepoint.com/auctions/52583

I bought the site because SitePoint support said that I was legally bound to buy the site, but later on they admitted to a bug in the auction process (now fixed) which allowed the seller to break the auction rules and reduce the reserve so that my bid became active. See the forum post detailing the whole saga http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?t=588664

I bought the site for $500 and was refunded $80 by the seller because he sympathised with my position. Paypal fees will be about $20. So I've set the BIN at $440 which will get me my money back.

This is a very good price. Take a look at these auctions for similar sites:

http://marketplace.sitepoint.com/auctions/51132 - $475 BIN but PR1 and revenue $50

http://marketplace.sitepoint.com/auctions/54125 - $600 winning bid, PR2 and revenue $50

Will push with Godaddy and supply zip of website with exported mysql db for easy installation. I'll help the buyer through setup if required.

    Hi Cyberbird,

Ooops have the page links been broken all this time, the traffic must have gone down drastically by now!!!

You'd better fix it asap or.....

It might be that you did not update the .htaccess file, after the transfer. I had a similar problem this morning after a site transfer. Please fix this and please post the most recent traffic and revenue stats. If you have problems let me know, maybe I could help you fix it.

    Greetings,

    Dave

    Hi Dave,

It's now fixed. It was something to do with the db config. I added a new user and changed the config file and it all seems OK now.

I'll get the traffic stats put up. Knowing I was selling in the New Year, I never touched the site, so I don't have any earnings figures.

    John

Somebody has contacted me by PM to question the traffic figures I posted as an attachment. They have noticed that the figures say "Statistics of: wahbb.acidrefluxillness.com".

This is because I have several different sites hosted on my Hostgator account and all apart from the first one (acidrefluxillness) are identified by a subdomain. The subdomain for work-at-home-based-business.com is wahbb.

The figures in the attachment are solely from work-at-home-based-business.com

Can you post traffic stats by referral and keyword?

Also, can you post revenue details? I know you are referring to the other auction, but you are the one responsible for providing accurate details regarding this site. What is your ACTUAL revenue you have generated in the week or so that you have owned it? Can you break that down by adsense, affiliate, etc.?

    Thanks
