* take this auction down.
For every seriously interested buyer there are a thousand copy cats. I have to stay as discreet as possible, and will reveal the URL after I know I am talking with a serious candidate, and after some specific information has been exchanged and a non-disclosure agreement is in place. This is not your run of the mill site - it has allowed me to build a profitable multi million dollar business within a year.

If your business cannot be sustained with a thousand copycats, you are clearly not offering anything truly unique. Hiding the URL clearly demonstrates that.

If you have a serious inquiry, please inquire, otherwise not really interested in the commentary. Why do I say this? because there are parties out there that will value the business model, member base, growth, sustainability, and will gladly pay our asking price.
"If your business cannot be sustained with a thousand copycats, you are clearly not offering anything truly unique. Hiding the URL clearly demonstrates that."
I just want to keep it private and only offer the specific details to serious interested parties. I am selling more than just a "site." This has been one my most successful businesses over the last year.

"For everyone who contacted me, I will be preparing a package to learn more about the site, traffic, revenue, our software platform, etc."
Perhaps you could have prepared these details BEFORE you started the auction? I mean, if you are serious about selling this $1.25M site.
Also, the marketplace rules are pretty clear:
"4. The seller must provide full details of the item for sale (including a URL if they are selling a website) in the auction. Sellers may not intentionally hide information from public view. This includes the use of statements such as PM me for more information. This also includes obfuscation or abbreviation of URLs using services such as tinyurl. If a moderator sees evidence that the seller is not publicly disclosing information, the auction may be suspended pending changes."

Amazing how many people here have $1.25 million to spare. I'm loling.
Pro tip to the seller....deals in this price range don't often happen on sitepoint (have they ever?!). You may be better off contacting a business broker skilled in the internet sector.

I've sent out quite a few NDA's and haven't even heard back. If I don't get any bites within the next 24 hours I am going to close this thread down, while I dish out borderline trade secrets for free.
On the other hand, if you would like to learn about what I did in step by step detail over the cap of the last year, I can offer consulting services, which you can PM me about. Warning: It's going to be expensive.

Is this a 3D mmorpg with a marketplace? If so, send me your NDA. If not, good luck with the sale. I would also recommend listing on sedo.com

to all the people saying ''PM me info'' you know you don't have the $1.25MILLION or whatever.... So stop waisting everyones time. On another note this auction IS against sitepoint terms so remove it or it shall be removed. Apart from that good luck with the sale, although if you want to sell such a site on sitepoint your going to need more then just luck :P

I love how the powers that be at sitepoint will remove some auctions at will, without appropriate reasoning, but an auction that blatantly breaks their rules and is reported remains. Good job, SP!!!
