Description

InsaneTek is a computer hardware review website. Manufacturers and retailers send sample products to reviewers who benchmark and evaluate the product. The reviewer then writes an article about it and it is posted on the website.
Growth
I do not advertise this website. New articles would bring in much more traffic. I constantly get emails from companies offering to send products for review as well as advertisers looking to advertise. I just haven't taken the time to follow through on either offers. InsaneTek.com previously had an Alexa rank higher than 20,000 so I know that it is possible to achieve growth.
Summary
What you will get if you buy this site:
- Existing content of insanetek.com
- Domain
Domain is Godaddy registered and will be transferred after escrow.
Reason for selling
I have been at university for the past couple years and have been unable to dedicate the time to growing the website as much as I would like. I would like to see the website return to its former 20,000 Alexa ranking.
Conditions
-Payment must be through escrow
-Existing content
All articles must retain their respective author's name.

    Hi,

What is the process of adding articles? Is it a manual process or is there a back-end administration system?

Are the people offering products finding you through the website or a personal contact?

Where do you get the reviews that aren't written by you?

    Thanks

The website uses the Joomla content management system.

Companies find us through the website and through past contact. I usually get an email from companies when new products are released.

I have other people writing articles in addition to me. The reward for writing the articles is being able to keep the sample product. No other form of compensation is given. Currently there are no writers on staff but contact information for past writers is available.

If you mean will I set up the website on the winner's server then I think we should be able to work something out.

I can go through my email and provide a list of the contacts I have used for many of the companies that have sent products.

Nice site - wish I had the cash. I remember InsaneTek and would love to see it revived again. :) Fury-Tech will be happy to syndicate your new content when it happens!

Your post says that the website's Alexa rank was around 20,000. Can you tell me when? and why did alexa and traffic die?

The 20k rating was during spring '06. That was the last time there were consistent updates. Revenue is about $75/month from 6 text link ads.

I used to own a hardware review website and was an affiliate with InsaneTek. I much preferred InsaneTek's old look compared to the new. Will that be included in the purchase as well? I might be interested to get back into the hardware review scene... ;)

Probably not. The older revisions of the site used a different CMS which means those databases don't have all the articles even if I could find the database backups.

Looks like domain is parked at Godaddy, you might have a chance of selling it if you make it live.
